Special Souvenir (OMIYAGE) of Surprise!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It is NOW, starting of OBON holidays, in Japan.

With the word of “OBON holidays”,
Japanese imagine going back to hometown, which is “KISEI”.
With the word of “KISEI”,
Japanese imagine “OMIYAGE” ( = souvenir, gift )
Yes, this article is about “OMIYAGE”.

There is special OMIYAGE which surprised me a lot.

We aren’t surprising at “What kind of OMIYAGE”, but
We are surprising at “Who bring these OMIYAGE”.

Our guests came to stay here, have brought OMIYAGE to us.
( Photo is a part of that. )

I could not imagine that hostel is getting OMIYAGE,
before we opened TOUKA here.

I am not bragging about getting there OMIYAGE.
I want to announce to our future guest
not to think bringing OMIYAGE here.

In past, we received these OMIYAGE with feeling of thanks.
Because our precious guest brought them here crossing boarder line.
But we cannot consume this many only in TOUKA.
So we have shared these with neighbor people,
to whom we/guests made trouble with
from whom we/guests got supported to recover troubles.

Now I am preparing to pack some of them to share
“happy feeling” of our guests to the earthquake victims in TOHOKU,
with whom I have been contacting since the Great East Japan Earthquake.

We are really appreciating to the warm hearts of our guests.
Again, we thank to the hearts.

By the way, I have tried some of OMIYAGE here.
It is dangerous taste for me to eat more cups of rice with these.

With remembering the faces and kind heart of the guest,
I am eating and packing them to share their kindness.

Thank you and you have a nice day of going hometown, with fine OMIYAGE in your hands.

こんなお土産もらうと、うれしいよね！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

さあ、日本ではお盆休みの始まりです。

お盆といえば、帰省。
帰省といえば、お土産。
そう、そんな「お土産」の話です。

実は、、、「もらって驚くお土産」があるんです。

「どんな」お土産かを驚くのではなく、、、
「誰に」もらうかを驚くお土産です。

なんと「灯火」に泊まりに来ているゲストの皆さんからお土産をいただくのです。
（画像にあるものはごく一部です。）

宿屋を始めるまでは、お土産を持って帰っていただくことはあっても、
お客様からお土産をいただくことなど、想像すらしていませんでした。

自慢しているのではありません。
ウチのようなゲストハウスに泊まりに来るのに、
どうぞお気遣いなくとお伝えしたいのです。
この記事を見られた未来のゲストさんはどうぞ気にしないでください。

で、お土産ですが、わざわざ国境を越えて持ってきていただくので、
本当に有難くいただいているのですが、
ここだけでは消費しきれないので、
宿屋を営むなかで、ご迷惑をかけたりすることのあった地域の人に
お裾分けするようにしています。
また東日本大震災以来、お付き合いのある被災地のお年寄りにも
ゲストの皆さんからのエネルギー・元気のお裾分けをしようと準備中です。

お土産を持ってきていただくなど、本当にありがとうございました。
この場を借りて、あらためてお礼申し上げます。

で、お土産、、、ココでいただくこともあるわけですが、
ゲストハウス食材としては、かなりヤバいです。
これだけで何杯もいけそうです。

いただいた方のお顔やまごころを思い出しながら、
ほおばったり、お裾分けにと詰めたりしています。

それでは、どうぞお土産を手に、楽しい帰省、素敵な一日を！
