I thought it was a latest map showing bear sightings in Japan, but…
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
A map of Japan that was featured on one of my favorite TV shows.
Since there were absolutely no marks on Kyushu, I assumed it was a distribution map showing where wild bears – a hot topic lately – have been sighted…
…but it turns out to be a latest map of udon vending machines.

They seem to be an endangered species now, much like traditional Japanese public bathhouses. They might well be considered historical relics of the Showa era.
In a previous article, I mentioned that, by my own standards, the best vending machine is the one in Iwakuni; however, the udon from another vending machine spot in Yamaguchi is actually the true number one.

However, when I stopped by in early summer…
I felt a sense of unease, wondering if a “major renovation” was actually feasible.
Objectively speaking, but, the taste of the udon varies significantly from one vending machine to another, none of them are particularly elaborate or sophisticated…
So we recreate this style of udon here as a guesthouse meal.
After several rounds of prototyping, I’ve crafted a recipe that captures that authentic “udon vending machine” flavor—the result is remarkably true to the original.
If any guests would like a late-night snack, please let us know when booking your stay; we will prepare the ingredients and provide them for 300 yen – the average price of a vending machine udon.
Of course, we will show you how to make it, so the style involves preparing it by yourself…

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
先にあげたお気に入りテレビ番組で紹介された日本地図。
九州に全く印がないので、てっきり最近話題の野生熊の出没分布図かとおもったら、、、
うどん自販機マップだそうです。

今や銭湯と同様の絶滅危惧種みたいですね。もはや昭和の歴史遺構なのかもしれません。
先の記事で自分基準の一番うまい自販機は岩国と述べましたが、実はもう一軒の山口の自販機スポットのうどんが真の一番です。

けれども、初夏に立ち寄ったら、、、
ほんとに「大規模修繕」できるのかぁ的な不安な気分になりました。
ただ客観的に言うと、店舗ごとにうどんの味にはかなり違いがあるし、かといってそんなに技巧をこらしたうどんはないので、、、
ゲストハウス飯として当宿でもこうしたうどんを再現しています。
数回の試作を通して、うどん自販機っぽい味に仕上げる工夫をこめたレシピで、再現性はかなり高いですよ。
お夜食に希望されるゲストさんがいれば、宿泊予約の際にその旨言っていただければ、材料を準備し、平均的なうどん自販機価格の300円で提供いたします。
もちろん作り方はお教えしますので、ご自身で調理いただくスタイルですが、、、
