Keep Japanesque!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Since the busy Golden Week period has passed…

We have been gradually working to maintain and improve the environment of our facility.

And we just finished replacing the paper on all 16 shoji screens inside the facility.

Guests from abroad sometimes tore them because they weren’t familiar with how to use them, and we had to repair them each time…

However, the repair marks were starting to become noticeable, so we decided to refresh the rooms and create a new Japanese-style room overlooking the strait.

We would love for our guests to experience the traditional Japanese atmosphere at this guesthouse under the lighthouse.

当宿らしさを保つ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

ゴールデンウィークの繁忙期が過ぎてから、、、

少しづつ、当施設の施設環境の維持管理に努めてきました。

先程、ようやく施設内16枚の障子戸を全て張り替え終わりました。

外国からいらっしゃったゲストさんは使い勝手がわからず、破ってしまうことがあって、その都度修繕してきましたが、、、

その修繕跡が少しづつ目立つようになってきていたので、これで心機一転、あらたに海峡を望む日本風の客室へとリフレッシュ出来ました。

ゲストさんには、是非とも灯台下の宿で、和の雰囲気を味わって欲しいですね。

困り事 / Our inconvenience

Our inconvenience

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Although this guesthouse is advertised as completely non-smoking..,

we still have guests asking where they can smoke sometimes.

We inform them that smoking is prohibited both inside the building and on the premises. We also explain that the surrounding area is a steep slope, making it difficult for fire trucks to access, and that the nearest smoking area is the convenience store at the bottom of the hill. We appreciate their understanding and cooperation.

Even so, cigarettes aren’t that cheap overseas, and the packages have pictures like this and descriptions of their harmful effects on the body printed on them, so why do people still crave them so much?

Even in developed economies, there are often discussions about cultural underdevelopment, and perhaps smoking is the most prominent example of this.

困り事

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

完全禁煙を謳う当宿ですが、、、

今なお、時折どこでタバコが吸えるのか聞いてくるゲストさんがいらっしゃいます。

当宿では、館内・敷地内ともに禁煙であることをお伝えし、近隣も急坂のために消防車のアクセスが厳しいエリアであることを理由に、最寄りの喫煙スペースは坂の下のコンビニであることをお教えして、理解・協力いただいています。

それにしても、海外でもそれほど安くないはず、の上にパッケージにはこんな写真や身体への悪影響まで印刷されているのに、どうしてそんなに吸いたくなるのでしょうか？

経済は発達していても、文化面での発展途上について話題にのぼることがありますが、もしかしたら喫煙はその最たるものかもしれません。
