The premier art in town – The new landmark?
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Prior to a special lecture by a manga artist and illustrator from Kitakyushu,
it seems that an unveiling ceremony for a giant wall art piece he created was held in our port town.

This topic was mentioned during the lecture, so after the lecture, I went to see the actual object in the rain.
It’s a lovely illustration, but…
Honestly, I think it’s displayed a little too high.
Even if you try to take a commemorative photo with this painting in the background, the position is too high, and the beautiful composition of the painting only gets distorted in the photo.
Once again, our town Kitakyushu is such a disappointment.
By the way…
unexpectedly, during my last stay in Tokyo at the end of last year, I happened to find a series of his works and bought them immediately.
Actually, the host has a history of having, when he joined a company as a fresh businessman, boldly submitted a self-introduction to the new employee section with profile photo of the company newsletter, stating that he wanted to “live a businessman life described in his comic Heart Cocktail.”
Instead of looking at distorted wall art, why not come and see/read our somewhat rare collection of his works?

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
北九州がふるさとの漫画家でイラストレーターの特別講演会に先駆けて、、、
わが港町では彼が手がけた巨大壁面アートの除幕式がとり行われたようです。

講演の中でもその話題に触れられていたので、講演終了後の雨の中、実物を見に行ってきました。
素敵なイラストなのですが、、、
正直、掲示されている位置がちょっと高ずぎるな、と。
この絵をバックに記念写真を撮ろうとしても、位置が高すぎて、せっかくの絵の構成が歪んでしか映りません。
またまた、ざんねんな「おいらの街」です。
ところで、、、
期せずして、前回昨年末の東京滞在時にたまたま彼の作品をシリーズで見つけ、即買いしてきています。
実は宿主、サラリーマンの入社時、社内報の顔写真付き新入社員自己紹介欄に恐れ多くも「ハートカクテルのような社会人生活を送りたい」と投稿した経歴の持ち主だったりします。
歪んでしか見れない壁画よりも、是非当宿収蔵のちょっとレアなコレクションを見に／読みに来ませんか？
