Risk of modern traveling

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I have been writing about what I am worrying about recent young people’s behavior.

There is one more risk I’m worried about from traveler’s point of view.

The risk is modern tools, many people think convenient in general.

It is translation software. Nowadays, it is embedded in various applications.

Recent trends among travelers is that they try to communicate in their own language without any hesitation.

(In the past, there were not a few people who communicated in their native language mixed with English.)

It is a big mistake that you assume that the sentences you write without paying attention to the grammar of your own language will be translated into the other person’s language as you wish.

miscommunication01

As you must drive carefully, you should communicate with paying attention that there is a possibility “your words may not conveyed properly”.

It was said in economic news TV that AI translation software is getting more useful for business. Please remember that you need to be careful not to fall into the traps behind the convenient tool.

Thank you and you have a nice day have fun while dealing with miscommunication.

Early in the New Year, Emergency Call #119 – Emergency Vehicles #2

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Just (15min) after we took care for the trouble of our guest’s leaving luggage and policemen he called for the trouble, we got in another trouble which required another emergency vehicle.

This time, the emergency vehicle was an Ambulance!

On the way back from the station to our guesthouse, I found an old lady sitting on the ground at the slope to the guesthouse.

I asked a woman who was there with the old lady and she said that the old lady seemed to fall down, injured and cannot stand up.

At the request of two women, I called 199, emergency call for ambulance.

An ambulance arrived shortly after, the old lady was taken to the hospital by paramedics.

The inside of the curve of the hill, at where the old lady seemed to fall down is quite steep. Even myself feel a little scared and I walked around the curve.

So we re-recognized that we have to warn our guests as well.

By the way, It took only 5 minutes for the ambulance to arrive after dialing 119.

The straight line distance between the fire station and our guesthouse is only 530m.

When fire department personnel inspect an inn’s fire prevention equipment, young officers/inspector always come on foot.

These days, when natural and man-made disasters continue to occur, we have realized once again that the benefits of this region provide peace of mind that money cannot buy.

Thank you and you have a nice day being able to respond quickly to various emergencies.

A proposal from a little guesthouse

A proposal from a little guesthouse

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I am a manager of this guesthouse who can’t get the rhythm of the song taught by a guest, which cheer former prime minister, out of my head these days.

The guest went to the other side of the strait, where is constituency in which the former prime minister was elected. But  the guest injured his leg, while he made a pilgrimage to historical sacred places.

As host, we recommended him to go to the hospital but he don’t want to go there and he tried to overcome this by purchasing over-the-counter medicines from the drug store and walking stick. It was because he didn’t have travel insurance.

After all, our conversation turned to the topic of “travel insurance.”

I heard from him that in countries such as Taiwan, he will not be granted a visa (he will not be able to enter the country) unless he present travel insurance.

He said that the requirement added after the coronavirus. In my opinion, Japan should require such requirements as a prerequisite for foreign tourists.

As I still have fresh memories of seeing the news before the pandemic that foreign travelers were often neglecting their medical expenses, I’m quite disappointed in this country’s lack of sense in not being able to come up with or implement a quick change plan, like “turning a disaster into a blessing” by taking advantage of the opportunity of coronavirus infection pandemic.

Thank you and you have a nice day by improving the situation wisely and without spending money.
