Retro-town, Retro-car and Retro-people!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In Autumn rain, there was an event held last weekend.

After sending off our guests, I drove through our port town.
And I find many umbrellas gathering in cold rain.

“The 12th MOJIKO Retro Car Meeting”

As the motif of town is “TAISHO* Retro”, cars of SHOWA** era may not match with the concept.
(Japanese calendar: *TAISHO = 1912-26, **SHOWA = 1926-1989)
In TAISHO era, major transportation were Horse carriage, Rickshaw and so on.
However “TENTOHMUSHI***” looked cute in front of old red brick building.
(***=ladybug: Nickname of the car, SUBA360)

Among such SHOWA Retro Cars, it made me feel pathos that an old man with a cane was staring an old car, like he saw himself of his younger days.

But the most SHOWA Retro was the cars, customized as motorcycle gang style, running in our town. They might come to see the retro cars. Old young-gangster might drive those cars and they also made me feel sorrow.

(They drove their cars wild, because they might complain to the regulation of event, “cars must be built before 1975”)

(There is another old automobile event in spring, for the cars built during 1976-89.)

This event was pretty good for the people like me, who is built before 1975.
If you are also built before 1975, please try to join this event next year.

Symbol of the Retro town, MOJIKO Station may be completed its renovation.

レトロタウン、レトロカー、レトロピープル！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

秋雨といえば、、、

先の週末に開催されていたイベント。

ゲストを送り出した後に町に用事があり、港を走っていると、、、
雨なのに、たくさんの傘が集まっているのが見えました。

『 第12回門司港レトロカーミーティング 』

町は「大正レトロ」がモチーフなので、昭和の車の設定がアンマッチな気もしますが、かわいい「てんとうむし」は、なぜか赤レンガの建物に似合っていました。

（車自体に無理があるのかも。大正なら馬車や人力車が乗り物の主流？）

そんな「昭和レトロ」のノスタルジックな車が勢揃いしている中、

哀愁を醸し出していたのは、
杖をついてやって来て、車を見て当時のご自身を重ね、懐かしがっている様子のご老人。

でも、その日いちばん「昭和レトロ」だったのは、、、
イベントを見にきたのか、町中を大きな音をたてて走る薹（とう）の立ったやんちゃ坊主達。

（イベント参加基準の“1975年以前製造”に抗議してるのか、各交差点で熱り立った走りを繰り広げてました。そんな昭和のレトロ感覚も懐かしいイベントでした。）

（ちなみに彼等のような76年〜80年代の車オーナーには春に別のイベントが用意されています。）

自分を含む “1975年以前製造”(?)されたレトロな皆さんにオススメのイベントです。
是非来年はイベント観覧のご予定を！

来年はもしかしたらレトロの町のシンボル「門司港駅」も改修を終えているかもしれません。
