Quiet Summer

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

There are only 3 days left in August, 2020. Could you have a satisfying time in this summer?

When I took a walk in our port town this week, the crossing bell started ringing.

There came the sightseeing trolley train our town proud of. The train has been in operation whole August as usual summer.

But there was no passenger in the coach.

Not like normal year, schools are already started and kids’ summer vacation was already finished. We cannot expect big number of passengers even in the last weekend of this August.

We do like the summer with kids’ laughing voices.

さびしい夏休み

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

2020年の8月も残すところあと3日です。充実のひと夏だったでしょうか？

今週、わが港町を散歩していると踏切が鳴り始めました。

町自慢の観光トロッコ電車のお出ましです。この8月も毎日運行していたようですが、、、

客車には誰ひとり乗っていません。

すでに学校関係は早々と新学期が始まっていて、子供たちの夏休みもうおしまい。8月最後の週末ですが人出が増えるようには思えません。

やっぱり夏は子供たちの声が響く町がよいですね。

On Sunday, we went out with lighters in hands.

Not only big candle art, but also the candles which were prepared by the children in local kindergartens.

P.S. We advised the guests of Saturday to see this event. But boys from neighbor country were more interested in red lantern light of IZAKAYA than candle light. They said that they went to Mojiko in daytime and left there before illumination lighting was started. It seems like they didn’t know about the event. That is an unfortunate thing.

From the train arrived at station, many girls who seems from same country as the boys ran toward the candle lights. That is in contrast to the boys, I thought.

区内の保育園児が共同で作ったキャンドルもまた味があって良かったです。

P.S. 滞在中のゲストを土曜日にも誘ったのですが、お隣の国の男子にはロウソクの灯りよりも赤ちょうちんの灯りの方が魅力的だったようです。彼らは門司港へは昼間に行ったそうで、イルミネーション点灯前に門司港を離れたとのこと。イベント情報伝わってないですね。なんかもったいない気がします。

駅に到着した電車からは、同じ国からと思わえる女子たちが足早に会場に向かっていく姿が対照的でした。

The Girl’s Month will start soon!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

On this account, we have been promoting Oyster Festival held in Feb.4.

In addition, Feb 4 is “RISSHUN (the beginning of spring)” in 12 terms of Chinese/Japanese Season.

According to Japanese custom, we can decorate HINA dolls starting RISSHUN.
It means it is the girls month, Feb.4 – Mar.3 (HINA-MATSURI).
During this period, we pray for girls fortune with displaying beautiful dolls.

HINA-MATSURI (girl’s festival) will be celebrated in this town too.
Style of celebration is a little sober but we like it.
As not so many tourists in this event, compare with other sightseeing spot and HINA event, we want to recommend it to our guests. Because their dolls in display are very good, historical, precious.

With Retro Japanese dolls in Retro Town, we can feel to trip back to 100 years ago.

Hina Dolls in Mojiko is historically precious and worth to see and we really want our guests to watch them. Don’t you experience the trip not only spatially but also temporally?

まもなくおんなのこの日、もとい、女の子の月が始まります！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

ここのところ我が町で開催される話題を記事にしてきましたが、、、

イベント開催日の2月4日は暦の上で「立春」。
つまり、この日から雛人形を飾って良い日にあたります。
日本ではそこから桃の節句まで女の子の幸せを願う期間です。

さて地味にではありますが、この町でも各施設で雛人形が展示されます。
展示会場は門司港レトロの各施設で、なかなか渋い雛人形が並びます。
地味さ故か、比較的観光客も落ち着いており、「灯火」的には推したいイベントです。

レトロな町に、レトロな人形たち、しばらく見てると気分は100年前にトリップしてしまいます。

歴史的にも貴重で、見ごたえのある人形たち、、、是非ゲストさん達にも見てもらいたいですね。空間だけでなく、時間も超える旅行、体験してみませんか。
