On Sunday, we went out with lighters in hands.

Not only big candle art, but also the candles which were prepared by the children in local kindergartens.

P.S. We advised the guests of Saturday to see this event. But boys from neighbor country were more interested in red lantern light of IZAKAYA than candle light. They said that they went to Mojiko in daytime and left there before illumination lighting was started. It seems like they didn’t know about the event. That is an unfortunate thing.

From the train arrived at station, many girls who seems from same country as the boys ran toward the candle lights. That is in contrast to the boys, I thought.

日曜日、ライターを手に出かけてきました。

こんな素敵なイベントが、毎年恒例で行われるふるさとって悪くないですよね。

区内の保育園児が共同で作ったキャンドルもまた味があって良かったです。

P.S. 滞在中のゲストを土曜日にも誘ったのですが、お隣の国の男子にはロウソクの灯りよりも赤ちょうちんの灯りの方が魅力的だったようです。彼らは門司港へは昼間に行ったそうで、イルミネーション点灯前に門司港を離れたとのこと。イベント情報伝わってないですね。なんかもったいない気がします。

駅に到着した電車からは、同じ国からと思わえる女子たちが足早に会場に向かっていく姿が対照的でした。

It was the Winter Solstice yesterday.

Sun set at the peak of Mt. Sarakura.

The wonderful view could be called as “Diamond Sarakura”.

After sunset, the time of illumination comes. Yesterday’s article was about the illumination surrounded OUGAI-bashi bridge near Kokura Castle. This year’s illumination is imitate famous wisteria garden in this city, Kitakyushu.

I thought there is no difference between last year and this year. So I compared them, and found out the difference.

Yes, it is really like wisteria flower tunnel in “Kawachi Fuji Garden”, however it cannot compete with the real one.

Real one was very very beautiful this year.

You can see the real wisteria flower in a few weeks in Japanese Golden Week in May. Recently some guests start to ask about May stay.

TOUKA locates near Komorie station and the free shuttle bus leaves from Yahata station. So access is convenient from here.

ホンモノに出会いに！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

昨日金曜は冬至。

昨年同様、ここから見る夕陽は北九州の最高峰「皿倉山」に没んでゆきました。

その姿、まさに「ダイヤモンド皿倉」。

日が沈むとイルミネーションの時間。

昨日の記事で話題にした小倉城近くの「鴎外橋」。今年のイルミネーションが、ここ数年大人気の「藤園」を模したものだということですが、去年のイルミネーションとそう変わったようにも思えず、比較してみました。

確かに今年のイルミネーションは藤棚っぽく仕上がっていますが、やっぱり自然にはかないません。

やはりホンモノの美しさは抜きん出ています。

ホンモノが見られるのは5月ゴールデンウィーク頃の２・３週間。最近チラホラと問合せが入るようになってきました。

当宿「灯火」は小森江駅に近く、「河内藤園」へのシャトルバスは八幡駅前から出ているので、ここからのアクセスは悪くないです。

是非、年越し・新年に立てる一年の計には、「北九州での藤見物」を忘れずに、是非とも見に来てください。

Decorated bridge locating in the middle of this area, called as “Ougai-bashi, has original motif of decoration, which is wisteria flower garden popular internationally in these few years.

The shopping mall near the bridge called “Riverwalk” has quality Christmas tree. Quality may be higher than Christmas trees in Tokyo Hotels. So it is perfect spot to visit this weekend.

I also heard that illumination around Kokura castle will be also kept lighting, even after New Year day. So I want people living big city to see these lights when they will come back their home city, Kitakyushu.

イルミの中心にある橋（鴎外橋）のデコレーションは近年海外でも人気となっている市内の藤の名所をモチーフに飾られたものです。

そのすぐそばの商業施設「リバーウォーク」にあるクリスマスツリーのクオリティーも高く、この週末に訪れるのに最高のスポットでしょう。そのクオリティたるや、東京の名だたるホテルのツリーよりも良く出来ています。

この一帯のイルミネーションもまた、年が明けても、しばらくの間は点灯されるそうです。お正月休みにここ郷土に帰省するみなさんには是非訪れてほしい場所です。
