Kanmon Style * Komorie Style!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
In hostel business,
we try not to mind, but cannot help minding about
“Review” and “Reputation”.
Generally, reputation of TOUKA is not bad but
sometimes guests mentioned about
“Location”.
As a manager of this hostel, I think that location is attractive
but never be disadvantage.
So I tried to comment back with explanation of this area.

Mojiko used to be one of the three biggest ports (Yokohama, Kobe and Moji) in Japan.
That time, huge number of people were working in the port of Moji ( = Mojiko ).
Among those people, successful, busy and wealthy businessmen wanted to take rest/healing, not in Mojiko but in the place not so far from Mojiko, where they could look down beautiful view of Kanmon straits in quite atmosphere. That is HERE, hill side of Komorie.
There used to be villas and cottages here that time and some old/gorgeous Japanese villas still remain in this neighbor of TOUKA.
That is the reason why we have wonderful Harbor view and guests can feel healing in this place.
It takes 7min walk FROM Komorie station and 6min walk TO Komorie station.
(Platform of Komorie station can be seen from our guest room.)
It depends on the guest to feel whether 7min is convenient or not, and the heights is worth to come/see this view or not.
If not, this is not the place, the guest should come and stay. If you are interested in staying such unique place historically/geographically, please try/come (again) here.

We comment back like above, for the future guests who concern about location.
We have never promote, but there is one keyword in reservation request from guests recently.
It is “Healing”.
As I described in the comment above, there have been healing effect in this area.
Because there is really such a villa in this neighbor of TOUKA.
We are making effort to maximizing the effect to heal our guests, and hoping the day will come, that the guests come here with main purpose of visiting here, Komorie.
Please try this quite atmosphere, watching ships goes by.

関門スタイル・小森江スタイル！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
客商売をやっていると、
気にしないつもりで、どうしても気にしてしまうのが、、、
、、、評判や評価
総じて「灯火」の評判・評価は悪くないのですが、
時折、引っかかるのが、、、
、、、「ロケーション」
宿主である自分は、
このロケーションは魅力でこそあれ、
決して欠点ではないと思っているので、
ロケーションを酷評いただく方には、この地を解説する様にしました。

かつて門司港は日本の三大港のひとつと呼ばれた賑やかな町。
そんな港町で成功し、財を成した風流人が別荘を建てた場所、
それが小森江の、このあたりの高台です。
ビジネスエリアにほど近くそれでいて町の喧騒から離れられる。
静かな環境下、風光明媚な地形と海峡を行き交う船を見下ろし、
しばらくそんなふうに過ごして、明日への英気を養う。
彼等はそんな生活を送っていたのだろうと想像しています。
そんな土地だからこそ、
いるだけで癒やしを感じていただけるのかもしれません。
そんな土地に駅ができ、アクセスも駅から7分ほど。
このアクセスを遠いと感じるかどうかは、利用いただく方が、
この環境に価値を見いだせるかどうかによると考えています。
静かに寛げる環境に価値はない、街の喧騒が何よりという人には、
そもそもこの宿が適切でないのだと思います。
歴史的・地理的にユニークな当地にご興味がおありであれば、
是非とも、このリラックスした雰囲気を試してもらいたいです。

実際にその当時の建物が、すぐご近所に現存しているので、本当にこの土地の保養効果は今に始まったわけではないようです。
軽井沢に遊びに来る人が「もっと東京に近ければ良いのに」と言わないように、ここでも街や観光地との絶妙な距離感を楽しんでいただけたらと思います。
（門司港・下関・小倉というそれぞれが半日で観光できるスポットの中心にあることもウリなので）
この春先から、ゲストからの宿泊予約のメッセージの中にあるキーワードが増えてきました。
そのキーワードとは「ヒーリング」。
実は感じてはいたものの、その言葉をコピーに売り込んだことはありません。
是非とも観光地でも商業地でもない小森江という土地の持つ独特の歴史と趣きや、
なによりも、ココにいるだけで自然に感じる癒やしのパワーを味わいにきて欲しいなぁと感じています。
そのうちに、ここ小森江で泊まることを一番の目的に、わざわざ北九州にやってくる、そんなゲストが来るようになる日を夢見て、日々精進しています。
その当時の風流人が眺めた、帆掛け舟・伝馬船・蒸気船にうって変わり、現在行き交う船はずいぶん大きくなりました。そんな船をのんびり見下ろしながら寛ぐ、そんな滞在はいかがでしょうか。
