Shocking NEWS for local people was announced end of July.
“Izutsuya decided to close 3 shops.”

COLET department store, which was announced to be closed at the end of next February, is locating in the front of Kokura station. Kokura is the biggest town in this city of Kitakyushu.
On the location, there were SOGO, TAMAYA, ISETAN departments stores but all of them were closed. Izutsuya decided to open COLET after them and it seems to get many shopping customers. However the business seems to be very tough/hard there. (This may be caused by internet shopping.)
Bus stop for Kitakyushu airport also locates in front of COLET. So a lot of our guests have used COLET, we heard. It was really popular 백화점 (department store) among our guests.
We are afraid that Kokura will be the town without Face.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
地元の人には残念で驚きのニュースが月末の7月31日に報道されました。
「井筒屋」が３店舗を閉店へ

来年の2月28日での閉鎖が発表された井筒屋COLETは北九州市最大の商業地、新幹線の停車駅でもある小倉の駅前一等地です。
かつて、そごう、玉屋、伊勢丹と名だたる百貨店が撤退した後、井筒屋が頑張っていて、人の入りも結構あったように見えたのに経営は厳しいようです。（ネット通販など新手の商売も伸びている影響でしょうか。）
空港とのシャトルバスの停車場のすぐ前にあることから、当宿のゲストもよく行くと聞いているペッカジョン（ハングルで百貨店）です。
小倉の町が「かおなし」にならないことを願ってやまない今日このごろです。
