The most Wonderful Time in Kanmon!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This year, I was there at the time of lighting on.

“MOJIKO Candle Night” & “Mojiko Retro Illumination”.

Originally, I planned to come to the event with our guest, who is staying for several nights.

However, he got a serious trouble and checked out in the morning.

So I fully enjoyed the event without entertaining anybody.

According to the event organizer,
(1) Previous day’s rain
(2) Shortage of volunteer member
prevented them from preparing event and more things to do remains in the event day as the result.

All candles were settled already in the holders on their original plan and just put light on the candles. But candles must be set during the event.

I thought that I put lights on few candles and take picture, but as I was located at the edge of candle picture, it was the slowest lighting area of all. So I talked with young girls and put on about 300 candles together.

I felt so accomplished and believed that I could take several good pictures.

It was hard to light so many candles but it was good experience. So l want to thank to the people who prepared this event and decide to hold the event, even in such a difficult weather.

I heard and worried about the risk not to continue this event because of shortage of volunteers and donations.

I am really proud that our home town have such a wonderful event and feel satisfied in this town I got U-turned to.

心に灯りを灯そう！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今年は点灯式から参加してみました、、、

門司港キャンドルナイト・門司港レトロ イルミネーション

本来は長期滞在中のゲストさんと見に来る予定でした。

ところが、ゲストさんにある問題が発生し、急遽チェックアウトされることになりました。

という訳で、イベントを満喫することが出来ました。

主催者の話によると、今年は、
(1) 直前に雨が降って準備が難航し、当日対応しなくてはならないことが増えた、
(2) ボランティアが想定外に集まらず、万全の準備が出来なかった、
ということです。

本来の予定では、ホルダーにキャンドルがセットされており、それに、火を点けるだけの点灯式が、キャンドルのセットから対応しなくてはならなくなったそうです。

自分も２、３個に火を点けて、写真だけ撮って帰るつもりでしたが、一番隅にいたことから、辺りは最も点灯が進んでいませんでした。気がつけばそばにいた20代女子に声をかけ、一緒に300個ぐらい点灯することになりました。

おかげで達成感から、渾身の何枚かが撮れました。

大変でしたが、悪天候の中、準備された実行委員の方々に感謝と、そうした状況下でもイベントを開催していただいたことに心からお礼申し上げます。

ただボランティア・寄付等の不足で存続の危機もあるらしく、そうしたリスクが心配されます。

我が郷土で、Uターンしてきたこの土地で、こんな素敵なイベントが開催されていることを誇りに思いました。
