It came without noticing!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It got cool suddenly just after September started.

I feel chill if I leave window open when I sleep.

There is no longer summer cloud but autumn cloud in the sky.

 

I have noticed one thing since this summer, when guests fill our visitor card the time of check-in.

It is guest’s AGE.

I realized that there is not a few guest using TOUKA who is 10 years younger than my daughter.

It may not take long before guests of my grand-daughter’s age come to stay TOUKA.

With feeling endless summer in my mind, I keep feeling myself young, but I might step into Autumn of my life.

Is it only myself who are not conscious about season of life correctly?

conscious about that the distance to the grave is much closer than that from the cradle.

気付かぬ間に忍び寄ってきてる！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

9月に入った途端に朝晩急に涼しくなりました。

窓を開けたまま寝ると、寒く感じるほどです。

空を見上げると、そこにはもう夏の雲はなく、秋の雲が広がっています。
最近、ゲストに宿帳を書いてもらうたびに、気になることがひとつあります。

それはゲストの年齢！

この夏から自分の娘よりも10歳も若いゲストに、普通に「灯火」を利用していただいていることにあらためて気がつきました。

ひとり旅する世代ってこんなに若くなっているんですね。

孫世代のゲストが泊まりに来るのも、もう時間の問題かもしれません。
いつまでも若いつもりで、心は夏のままでも、人生の中での自分の季節は秋に一歩踏み込んでいるのかもしれません。

人生の季節について、認識が甘いのは自分だけなのかな？

ゆりかごよりも墓場の方が近くなっていることに、、、

There is a special mode to welcome certain people!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Do you know the word “Guesthouse” is same as State Guesthouse which welcome state guests from foreign countries.

In terms of the physical scale, TOUKA is absolutely inferior to the State Guesthouse.

But from the view point of OMOTENASHI* mind, TOUKA is not at all inferior to the State Guesthouse.(*OMOTENASHI = hospitality)

The Guesthouse, which locates in Komorie, keep having a lot of guests from certain countries. So, we added one more hand-made tool for OMOTENASHI.

With this tool, we think we can strengthen the relation a little more between guests and us,

“OMOTENASHI, face to face”

This is the place, some of guests give their very first smile here,
and we are pleased to see the guest feels happy with seeing their hometown.

Since the first pin was sticked on the board one week ago, we have had pretty good number of pins on the board already.

特別モードでお迎えしています！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。

Guesthouseの正式な和訳ご存知ですか？

それは「迎賓館」！

言われてみれば、その名の通り、、、

外見では、赤坂の迎賓館とは規模も豪華さも比べものにはなりませんが、
内面のおもてなしでは、小森江の迎賓館「灯火」も負けている気はしていません。

小森江の迎賓館では、ある国からのゲストが特に多いので、
ちょっと “手作りの工夫” をしてみました。

これにより我々が重視するゲストと宿主とのつながり、
「顔の見えるおもてなし」が
さらに少し強化されたように思います。

「灯火」にゲストをお迎えしてから、
ここで最初の「笑顔」をいただくゲストも少なくないので、
この新しい手作りのおもてなしがウケけていることを
本当に喜ばしく感じています。

ちょうど一週間前に最初のピンが打たれてから、

この一週間。刺されたピンの数は、すでに結構な数になりました。

The reason why the conversation never get lively!

It’s now less than a week until summer vacation will end.

The third coupon was thought as a waste, but only 4 tickets remaining and I feel confident that I can use them up till Aug.31.

By the way, I sometimes brought up the topic about this sea-water swimming pool to promote hidden charm of my hometown, Moji.

However, they seem to have zero interest about swimming pool.

Recently, I found the reason because they do have less interest about beach too, even in such a hot summer day.

It is because there is NOT so many Korean young people CAN SWIM.

After talking with several guests, I know now that almost all elementary/middle schools in Korea don’t have swimming pool. Schools concern more about desk study than swimming skill.
It surprised me that even good-looking sportsman type Korean guest cannot swim well.

Maybe this is none of my business but,
What will they do at beach resorts they will visit after they become rich?

What will they do if the ferry boat sink during their high school study tour?

I remember the tragedy of MV Sewol(세월호) sinking and recognize why students didn’t jump into the sea, as their practical matter.

TOUKA may promote optional service for our Korea guests to get familiar with water in Mekari salt water swimming pool next summer.

分かった！ 盛り上がらない理由（ワケ）

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

夏休みも残すところ、一週間を切りました。

無謀かなと思われた3冊目のプール回数券も残り4枚となり、なんとか消化できそうです。

さて、門司の隠れた魅力を伝えようと、日本でも珍しいこの塩水プールについて、時折ゲストとの話題に繰り出しているのですが、

と・こ・ろ・が、、、

韓国人ゲストの食いつきの悪いこと悪いこと！

最近、猛暑日に海水浴の話題でも盛り上がらないことから、ようやく理由が分かってきました。

泳げる人が、非常に少ないのです。

会話を通して分かったことは、小中学校通して、プールのない学校が一般的だということです。
若いイケメン・スポーツマンタイプのゲストでも、不思議なぐらいカナヅチが多いのが驚きです。

余計なお世話かもしれませんが、
将来、お金持ちになって、海外のビーチリゾートに行くようになったらどうするんでしょう？

修学旅行で船旅をすることになり、その船が沈没することになったらどうするんでしょう？

2014年に起こったセウォル号の悲しい事故の記憶を思い出すと同時に、高校生たちがなぜ海に飛び込めなかったかが現実問題として理解できました。

来年は「水に親しむ」と銘打って、オプショナルで（韓流）ゲストに水泳を教えてあげようかなとも考えています。
