The most recommending spots for Autumn Holidays!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

There are guests increasing who use rent-a-car to travel this area.
Not only Japanese guests, but foreign guests also use rent-a-car lately.

For such rent-a-car user, we always recommend to drive to THIS SPOT from the time they made reservation at TOUKA.
(I suddenly had the idea of driving there to take some photos this week.)

It locates with reasonable distance from TOUKA.

We can drive, watching blue “Sea of Japan” on our left side,

and local nostalgic old train running on our right side.

And we finally arrive at SUPER COOL road.

秋の行楽、イチオシはココっ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

最近、ゲストにレンタカーを利用される方が増えてきました。
海外からのゲストもレンタカー利用率少なくないです。

そんなレンタカー利用のゲストに予約時点からオススメしているのがこちらです。
（今週、ある晴れた日にふと写真を撮りに出かけていきました。）

「灯火」からのドライブにちょうどよい距離で、

左には青い日本海、

右には並走するローカル電車を見ながら走って、

最後には「超、気持ちいい」状態になれるからです。

Let’s work smart, Kitakyushu!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As I mentioned about airport in the last article, I pick up another topic about airport.

Now, our town, Kitakyushu in renovating airport terminal building.
The most interesting part for me is its “Lounge”.

From the lounge heavy users point of view, current lounge of Kitakyushu airport sucks. Because it doesn’t work as a tool to show hospitality of Kitakyushu. So I am expecting very much how they improve their lounge in new layout.
*Now, our guests who use international flight cannot use the lounge in Kitakyushu airport. It is very disappointing as both domestic and international locates in one same terminal building.

A few days ago, I used a new lounge of neighbor airport. I now report how convenient it was. We have guests who used this airport increasing lately.

The biggest and best difference from that of Kitakyushu is that their lounge is locating before security checkpoint.
(So both domestic and international passenger can use the same lounge. Plus both departure and arrival passenger can use it too.)
This can be implemented more by “idea”, “mind” and “sense”, than the budget.

I believe that most important thing is “the mind of OMOTENASHI = Hospitality” for both guesthouse and airport.

がんばろう北九州！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

空港の話題が出たついでに、気になっていることをひとつ。

現在、我が街北九州では空港ターミナルビルを改修中です。
改修内容の中で自分が注目しているのは「ラウンジ」の位置付けです。

「ラウンジ」ヘビーユーザーの自分自身にとっては、これまでの北九州空港のラウンジが海外からのゲストにとっておもてなしのツールとして機能していなかったので、改修後の「ラウンジ」にとても期待をしています。
※ちなみに現在、北九州空港では国際線の利用者はラウンジの使用ができません。国内線・国際線どちらもおなじターミナルビルにあるのにとても残念です。

先日利用したお隣の空港でもラウンジが改修され、より使いやすくなっていたので、参考までにその使い勝手の良さをご紹介します。最近こちらの空港を利用して当宿にいらっしゃるゲストさんも増えてきました。

北九州空港との違いのうち、最大・最良のポイントはラウンジが保安検査場前に設置されていることです。（これで国内線・国際線とも利用者が活用することが可能です。さらに出発・到着の両方で利用することも可能です。）これって予算というよりは「アイデア」・「気持ち」・「センス」の問題でしょう。

ゲストハウスも空港も、大切なのはやっぱり「お・も・て・な・し」の心でしょうね。

テレビは怖い！/ The Fear hidden in TV!

The Fear hidden in TV!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

One spot in Kanmon strait was focused in the TV program broadcasted in the weekend.

The TV program has the name of Documentary in its title, but I felt strange with watching only Japanese people with some kind of melancholic mood.

There must be a lot of non-Japanese people who were pushing rental yellow bicycle there, but none of them were interviewed.

There was no fiction in the program. However I felt fear in the bias created by their way of interview and editing story of 25min.

We really hope our guests to experience this place with their own body and soul.
There is nothing in the spot, but people can feel something there.

And the something is different by the people who visiting there, we know.

テレビは怖い！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この週末にテレビで放映されたここ関門海峡のとあるスポット。

ドキュメントと名の付く番組でしたが、なんとなく哀愁の色濃いニッポン人しか登場せずに、なんとなく違和感を感じました。

そこには黄色いレンタル自転車を押す、一風変わったタイプの人達が沢山いたはずなのに、番組には一人として登場しませんでした。

放映されたものに確かにフィクションはありませんが、「取材」と「編集」という撮る側・作る側のバイアスにどことなく怖い印象を受けました。

未来のゲストにはその目で見て、身体で実際に感じてもらいたいですね。
「何もないけど、“何か”がある」このスポットを。

きっと、その何かは行く人によって全然違うんだと思います。
