Our Goal of International Relationship

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Five days to G7 which will be held in this country.

We can see many warning sign all over the town.

We don’t understand how much effect and meaning in G7 held by enormous national expenditure and manpower, but

this is our Goal of International Relationship.

We will keep building such relationship with our guest from various countries.

In my opinion, wagging its tail at a strong opponent and spending more money than we have to support other counties should not be called as International Relationship.

Moreover, it should be reflected and viewed as problematic that huge money and time were once spent to establish fake relationship of trust between our former prime minister and the Russian leader.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

この国で開催されるG7まであと５日。

膨大な国費とマンパワーをかけて開催される、各国首脳のやり取りにどれほどの意味・成果があるのか分かりませんが、

これからもいろんな国と草の根外交を進めていきたいと考えています。

ちなみに、強い相手に尻尾を振ったり、持ってる以上のお金をばらまくことがあるべき国際関係だとはとても思えません。

また前首相とロシアの首脳との意味のない交流に莫大な国のお金と時間を費やすなんて愚策はもっと反省・問題視されるべきでしょう。

一期一会 / Once in a lifetime

Once in a lifetime

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As we are running guesthouse, we often recognize the importance of this word ICHIGOICHIE (= Once in a life time).

We always prepare and welcome our guests with showing our hospitality. As the result, once became twice and repeatedly in many cases, and we appreciate it very much.

We have just sweared to ourselves to keep showing our original hospitality to our guest for this year.

By the way,

We have felt that ICHIGOICHIE (= Once in a lifetime) is not only effective with human but with something else.

Because I found one goods on super sale wagon in one recycle shop which match to this guesthouse very much on the last way back from Tokyo. Recently I have visited recycle shops in local cities, if I have an extra time during driving to/from Tokyo.

In the shop, I found a partly broken box and I was curios about what is inside. So I asked the shop to let me check it and I found this Japanese kite in good condition. The picture on the kite is about ancient battle at this strait.

Since I got the building of TOUKA here, I have kept feeling ICHIGOICHIE in many cases.

So I added this kite* to our new year interiors/decorations and expect divine favor of this famous SAMURAI, who has been a kind of a top idol in Japanese history. (*Kite is a traditional Japanese toy and new year decoration.)

一期一会

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

宿屋を営んでいると、「一期一会」、、、この言葉の重要性を実感することが多いです。

ご利用いただくゲストさんには常に「一期一会」の気持ちで準備・応対させていただいています。その結果として、一期一会が一期二会となり三会となり、リピーターとなっていただくことも少なくなくて、有り難いばかりです。

本年2022年もそんな気持ちを大切に、灯火なりのおもてなしを続けていこうと誓いを新たにしたところです。

ところで、、、

この一期一会って、どうも人に対してだけではないと思えるようになりました。

というも、最近移動中に時間に余裕が出来ると、その土地々々のリサイクルショップに立ち寄ったりするのですが、前回の東京行きの帰り道で、とあるリサイクルショップの激安特価ワゴンの中に海峡の町にある当宿にピッタリの品物を見つけたんです。

潰れた箱の中身はハッキリ分からなかったのですが、気になったので確認させてもらうと、中からはこんなものが！それも状態良く。

どうも当宿の建物と出会って以来、こうした一期一会を感じること本当に多いんです。

今年からこの和凧を正月飾りに加え、日本史のアイドルでもあるこの名将のパワーにあやかりたいと思います。

勉強不足？ / Need to study more!

Need to study more!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We have had pretty many guests who is exchange students studying in Japan.

Most of them says “It is very hard to study Japanese.” I have kept wondering it is correct of not. But I found the use of certain Japanese word which I didn’t know yet.

The Japanese word is “接客”（ customer service ).

For me, “接客” is “おもてなし” ( hospitality ). And we also run the business who provide customer service.

However, I have often heard government (central and local) and other politicians use the word “接客業” ( customer service business ) and “接客を伴う飲食店” ( bar and restaurant providing customer service) when they talked about COVID-19 infection presentation measures. Now I understand that they mean customer service in the night ( bar and nightclub ).

What is the customer service we are providing here?

As prime minister and other politicians use the word, so the use is correct but I cannot help feeling strange.

It is like strange feeling when I heard they said “to consider someone’s sad feeling” and “recruiting”. It seems that I have to study more about Japanese.

勉強不足？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

当宿では、日本で勉強している外国人留学生に利用いただくことがよくあります。

彼らが口々に言うのは「日本語は難しい！」。

そうかなぁと思っていたら、、、これまで知らなかった日本語の用法に出くわしました。

その日本語とは「接客」。

自分の解釈では「接客」とは「おもてなし」。当宿も「接客」する業界のひとつだと思っていました。

ところが、新型コロナウイルスの感染防止に関わる政府（中央・地方）の声明の中に「接客業」「接客を伴う飲食店」といった表現を頻繁に聞くようになり、よーく聞いているとどうもそれは「夜の接客（スナックやキャバクラ等）」を指すことが分かってきました。

では、我々がやっている「おもてなし」って何なんでしょう？

首相をはじめ、政府の偉い方々が口々に言うからには間違いはないでしょうが、とても違和感を感じます。

「寄り添う」「募集」などに続く違和感です。どうもまだまだ日本語の勉強が足りないようですね。
