Heritage stations built in same year!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
The two were born in same year.
They were born in two successive fiscal years, as Japanese fiscal year starts April.
Older one is living in this town, and younger one is living in the middle of Tokyo.
Yes, older one is Mojiko station, and younger one in Tokyo station.
So when I visit Tokyo recently, I’ve tried to check Tokyo station every time.
Tokyo station was finished its restoration already in 2012, but it was only building and surrounded space has still in redevelopment.
We can see the difference between photo of May and Oct, this time. Whole front yard and aisle were under construction in May, but central part was completed this time and the area was opened to public. There are construction in front of east gate still. And it takes pretty long time to completed, because Tokyo station is the main entrance of this country.
On the other hand, restoration schedule of Mojiko station was extended and it is scheduled to finish in fall next year.
By the way, it was just several years ago that I knew these two stations were originally build in same year, 1914.
Although Mojiko station is the nearest station from my alma mater,
nevertheless we went Tokyo station on a school trip of our high school to Tokyo,
it is very unfortunate that we don’t know the relation of two heritage stations after the STUDY trip.
If I were a teacher of the high school and with students in school trip, I did talk about two stations and year of original build for the students to memorize in their mind.
So now, I keep talking to our guests for their good memories,
such as story of “Ganryu-jima Island”,
role of our “Lighthouse” for strait’s safety,
tragedy related “the sky above Kitakyushu” and so on.

年下なのに先にお化粧直し、よりキレイに！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
その二つは同い年生まれ。
1月生まれと12月生まれなので、学年でいえば一年違いの年子（としご）の姉妹。
上の子はわが町に、下の子は東京の真ん中に。
そう、門司港駅（1月）と東京駅（12月）のことです。
そんなわけで最近上京(?)する際には、必ず下の子を見に行くようにしています。
東京駅は既に2012年に復原工事を完了していますが、どうもそれは建物だけで、周辺部分の整備はまだまだ現在進行形です。
5月と今回の画像を比較すると分かりますが、5月は前庭が全面的に改修中だったのが、今回は中央口から正面にかけて工事完了したようで一般に開放されています。丸の内北口前を残し、だいぶきれいになりました。我が国を代表する玄関口だけに結構時間がかかりますね。
対して、門司港駅の復原工事完了は大幅に予定が遅れ、来年秋になるとのこと。
さて、どちらも1914年（大正3年）に完成した歴史的にも観光的にも価値のある駅舎ですが、そのことを知ったのはここ5年ぐらいのことです。
門司港駅は母校である高校の最寄り駅だったのにもかかわらず、
その高校の修学旅行の行き先が東京で、東京駅を利用したにもかかわらず、
残念ですよね、「修学」旅行だったのに、、、
その頃のことを思います。
もし自分が母校の先生で、生徒を引率する立場だったなら、「皇居」のあと「東京駅」では、名誉ある郷土の駅と関連付けて、この話を生徒たちの心に残るように話すでしょう。
今、そんな思いで「灯火」のこと、窓から見える「巌流島」のこと、「灯火の灯台」がどれだけ海峡の安全航海に大切かということ、灯台から望む「1945年（昭和20年）8月9日の北九州の空」のこと、などをゲストの思いでに残るようにお話しています。
