Feeling something strange?!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Pyeongchang Olympic started yesterday.

In TOUKA, TV suddenly appears only in the period of Olympic.

We watched opening ceremony with Korean boys.

They thought that people are not excited very much about this winter Olympic games and many people don’t like the government is too busy cheering North Korea.

We guessed together who light the Olympic cauldron.

And they told that winter sports have no longer popular in Korea after Yuna Kim’s retirement.

It was very fun watching Olympic game with latest Korean situation.
(That was much more interesting than NHK commentary.)

They said that they felt very strange watching Pyeongchang Olympic in Japan.

That was strange and funny start of Olympic season in TOUKA.

P.S. I remember that we watched Rio Olympic ping pong game together with Chinese guest and that I watched Beijing Olympic with people from various countries at a hostel in San Fransisco. That experience was so nice and it is so exciting with same thing happening in this guesthouse.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

ピョンチャン・オリンピック始まりましたね。

「灯火」では普段は無いはずのテレビが、この時ばかりは活躍しています。

開会式はイケメン韓流男子たちと見ました。

韓国内で実はオリンピックが全然、盛り上がっていないことや、

北に寄り過ぎている韓国政府のオリンピック対応に嫌気が差している人がすごく多いことを聞いたり、

誰が聖火に点火するのか予想したり、

キム・ヨナ引退以降、冬のオリンピック競技の人気がガタ落ちしたことなど教えてもらったりして、生の韓国事情解説付きの楽しい時間を過ごしました。
（NHKの解説者のナレーションより絶対に面白いです。）

彼らにしてみると、日本まで来て、自国で開催されているオリンピックの中継を見るのが、すっごく変な感じがするらしくて、、、

お互いに不思議で楽しいオリンピック開幕となりました。

それでは、どうぞ平和の祭典、素敵な一日を！

P.S. 開店したばかり、リオの時に、卓球の日中対決を中国人ゲストと一緒に観戦したことを思い出しました。

ザ・ランナーズ・シティ！/ Kitakyushu the Runner’s City!

Kitakyushu the Runner’s City!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Next month, we will have a winter big event here in this town.

Yes, it is Marathon Race.
TOUKA will support guests and their supporters who will attend the Event, utilizing our location.

At first, TOUKA locates at very convenient place for both runners and their supporters.

For runner, both starting point and goal point are easy access with using JR train. Walking time is about 15min for “TOUKA to Station” and “Station to both point”.

For supporter. it is easy to go to the course with 5min walk from here. So TOUKA is convenient base camp for marathon family.

If you really want to support runner, you can make perfect support as follows with utilizing JR train.

(1) To go start point with runner and cheer him/her.
*Move back to Komorie by JR train.

(1’) To walk down to marathon course after taking rest here.

*Communicate with local people at supporter station and cheer together

(2) To cheer runner at 27km point.

*Move to Mojiko by JR train.

(3) To cheer runner at tuning point near boat pier.

*Move back to Komorie by JR train.

(4) To cheer runner at 36km point.

*Move to Kokura by JR train.

(5) Welcome runner at goal point!

For solo runner, we will cheer you at (2) 27km point & (4) 36km point and taking your running picture*.
(*We cannot guarantee 100% quality photo, because of other runners around you.)

At the marathon of last year, our guest could finish the marathon with faster time than her targeted time. We all excited about that.

Yes, we will also have fun by supporting our guests whole day of big sports event here.

ザ・ランナーズ・シティ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

あともうひと月もすると、我が町では冬の一大イベントが開催されます。

そう、北九州マラソンです。

当宿「灯火」はランナー応援の宿！ゲストとして泊まっていただくだけでなく、地の利を活かして大会に参加されるランナーと応援する人（家族？友達？）とを120％支援します。

まずはロケーション。「灯火」のある小森江は、走る方にも応援する方にもとても便利なところです。

ランナーには、スタート＆ゴール地点へはJRの電車でアクセス出来て、「宿から駅」＆「駅からどちらの地点」を合わせても徒歩15分ほど。

応援するのも、フォトジェニックなコース沿いのポイントまで歩いて5分なので、マラソン・ファミリーのベースキャンプとして最適です。

本格的に応援・撮影したい方には、前夜・当日と連泊でご利用いただければ、このようにJRを利用して効率的で楽しい応援ができると思います。

(1) ランナーと一緒にスタート地点に行って応援。
*JRで小森江へ移動。

(1’) 宿に戻って休憩後（笑）、徒歩5分でマラソンコースへ

*地元住民による応援ステーションで近所の皆さんとも交流

(2) 27kmで応援。

(3) 門司港、渡船乗り場前の折り返し地点で応援

*JRで小森江へ移動。

(4) 36kmで応援。

（関門海峡と下関の街をバックに撮影）

(5) ゴール地点で完走のお迎え！

お一人でいらっしゃるランナー・ゲストさんは、チェックインの際にゼッケン番号を教えていただければ、(2) 27km地点と(4) 36km地点で「灯火」スタッフによる応援＋撮影*。
（*ランナー同士が重なったりするため、写真映りは保証できませんけれど。）

作年のレースでは、応援したゲストさんが目標タイムより大幅に良い記録でゴールされたので、とても盛り上がりました。

応援を通して「灯火」スタッフも地元の一大イベント「北九州マラソン」を思いっきり楽しむ予定です。

ここに住んでて良かった！/ Lucky We Live Kanmon! feat. TOUKA

Lucky We Live Kanmon! feat. TOUKA

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

New Year Eve to New Year Day, we went out together with our guest.

This is the way to celebrate/enjoy New Year in Kanmon!

*New Year Eve:

We counted down and listen many ships blow horn the time of year changing and watch fireworks. Weather was worried but it was fine and clear sky and best condition for fireworks.

After the fireworks, we enjoyed OTOSO, new year celebrating Sake, and guests were enjoyed Japanese culture.

*New Year day of 2018:
We woke up about 5:00am and climb up to our backyard mountain.

About 40min walk brought us to the top. I saw the same old scene at the open space at the top. We all stood in the line for ZENZAI (Japanese Sweet Bean Soup with baked Rice cake).

We ate up warm and sweet Zenzai and went to east space to observe rising sun. Unfortunately sky was cloudy and we could not see rounded sun but we could see strong sunlight between the clouds.

(It was the perfect shaped sunrise in 2017, but I like to enjoy the first sunrise with our guests, even sun was not a good shape.)

In the evening of New Year Day, with watching beautiful sunlight from west sky of our lighthouse, I felt that we are Lucky to be in Kanmon, where I was born and I am living now!

ここに住んでて良かった！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

2017 大晦日より、2018 元旦にかけて、
行ってきました！ゲストと一緒に、、、

これが「関門の年越し」！

＊2017 大晦日：
カウントダウン後、港中の船が一斉に鳴らす汽笛をしばらく聞いた後、冬の花火。

当初は天気が心配されていましたが、直前で回復して、澄んだ空気の中キレイな大輪の花が上がっていました。ゲストも大喜び。

カウントダウン花火〜宿に戻ってのお屠蘇！
変化球の日本文化をゲストにも楽しんでいただきました。

＊2018元旦：
早朝は5時台に起きて裏山へ！

40分ほどで山頂に着くと、山頂広場では幼い頃からの懐かしい光景。列に並んで、ぜんざい、餅の順でお椀に入れてもらいます。

あったかくて適度に甘いぜんざいをお腹に流し込んだあとは東向きの広場へ。

2018年の初日の出はあいにくの曇り空でしたが、それでも雲間から眩しいばかりの陽の光が差し込んできて、とてもよい初日の出参りとなりました。

（昨年の初日の出はキレイでしたが、愉快なゲストと登る山、一緒に見る初日の出はまた格別でした。）

元旦の夕方は、宿の上の灯台より、2018年最初の日の入りを拝みながら、、、

ガイドブックには載っていないイベントやスポットでゲストをおもてなしできる、
そんな土地に生まれて、そして今、ここに住んでいて本当によかったと感じた新年元旦でした。
