One Gorgeous Night!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

TOUKA is a guesthouse looking down Kanmon Straits.

Wonderful time to look down is mainly daytime, specially it is so cool looking at ships moving smoothly on the surface of blue sea.

However it is gorgeous in the night sometimes.

This Friday morning before dawn, it was heavy rain. But suddenly it got brightened by the strong lights. It was a ship went through strait.

Later I checked by internet, and I found it was really luxury cruise boat and I surprised that glazed part on the deck is spa.

So we have to keep eye on Kanmon Straits.

P.S. The next Friday morning, it was very foggy and all regular ships were forbidden to go into the strait.

ゴージャスな夜！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

関門海峡を見下ろす宿、「灯火」。

見下ろして気分の良いのはだいたいが昼間、特に朝の真っ青な海面の上を滑るように船が進んでいく姿を見るのが最高ですが、、、

時折、夜の関門海峡がスゴいんです。

金曜未明、激しい雨の降る中、突然窓の外が明るくなり、眩いばかりの船が横切って行きました。

後でネットで調べると、かなりゴージャスな客船だっりします。甲板から突き出すガラス張りの建造物が「スパ」であることを知って驚きです。

というわけで、常に目の離せない関門海峡です。

それでは、どうぞ今晩はゴージャスな夜を！

P.S. この日この後、金曜日の朝、濃霧のため関門海峡では一時全船舶の航行が制限される事態となったようです。

Real Chinese Cuisine came here!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The guest came from the country, famous for symbolic hotel which has roof top swimming pool on its three big towers.

He told me “I will make dinner for you” and go out. When he came back to this guesthouse, he stand at the kitchen start cooking Chinese food after taking a short nap.

Gray hair but almost professional backpacker went all over the world.

Shortly thereafter, several dishes are on the dining table.

He commented that here is the most well-equipped kitchen in his guesthouse experience and we started eating.

Born in Hong Kong, grown in Hong Kong and worked in Singapore, all of his dishes are fascinating to me. He also explained basic theory to cook Chinese food. It was very good experience for me.

Yes, guesthouse is a wonderful place, such an unexpected good thing may happen.

本格中華がやってきた！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

三つのタワーにまたがる形で屋上にプールを配する大人気のホテルがある南の国からやって来たゲストさん。夕食は自分が作るからと言って、出かけていかれました。夕方戻ってくると、ひと休みした後、おもむろにキッチンに立ち、食材と調理器具を見比べながら料理を開始します。

白髪交じりながら、世界各地を回ったバックパッカー歴は筋金入り。

ほどなくするとテーブルにお皿が並び、、、

ココはこれまで利用したどこよりも、調理器具が揃っているよ、とお褒めの言葉をいただいてから夕食が始まりました。

香港生まれ、香港仕込みという彼の料理はどれも魅力的で、食事中には中華料理の原則ともいえる基本料理法まで解説してくれました。日本料理との共通点、異なる点を色々と気付かせてもらいました。

ゲストハウス、たまにこんなうれしいことが棚ぼた的に起こるワンダーランドです。

Because I want to take pictures of full bloom SAKURA together with Castle before rain, I went to Kokura Castle Katsuyama Park.

When I hold my camera at the street, young guy run from park and stayed on the railing in front of me. I was waiting for him going away but one car came to him.

Ambulance!!

There is strange ceremony/custom in Japan. In April (start of fiscal year), many group of people (students, businessmen, etc) hold drinking party include that under cherry tree. During the party, newcomer is made to drink too much and there are not a few people died by acute alcohol intoxication every year.

Japan, who calls itself as an advanced nation, seems to be a developing country relatively at drinking & smoking manner and respecting women.

I personally think drinking should be prohibited at public outdoor space like U.S. It is for education/discipline of child, preventing health problem of park user, measure not showing shameful drunker to public. Now it is natural to see tourists from foreign county in each town. I just wonder if we should expose these miner aspect of Japanese to them or not to keep our dignity.

Thank you and you have a nice day, by being polite, honest, and straighten yourself even at HANAMI party.

P.S. Please enjoy HANAMI, but please not to be like drunk Japanese! Don’t bring unforgettable BAD memory back to your country.  If you want to try Japanese stretcher, it may be good opportunity to check together with Japanese ER system.(laugh)

外国人の知らない／知らなくていい日本の花見

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

雨でやられる前に、城と咲きそろった桜とがライトアップされている姿をカメラに収めておこうと、行ってきました小倉城。
（というか、プールに泳ぎに行ったついでですが、、、）

日没までの姿も収めておこうと大通りをはさんでカメラを構えると、正面から学生とおぼしき若い男性が走ってきて、自分の立っている場所の正面の車止めに座って動こうとしません。邪魔だなぁと思いながら彼が退くのを待っていると、通りの向こうからやってきたのは、、、

救急車！

日本では4月に入ると、花見や歓迎会と称して新人等にお酒をしこたま飲ませる儀式があり、この時期急性アルコール中毒で命を落とす人も少なくありません。

自称「先進国」でありながら、相対的にはお酒・タバコマナー、女性尊重に疎い国民に思える瞬間がまだまだ少なくないようです。

お酒について、個人的にはアメリカのように、屋外の公の場所での飲酒は禁止すべきではないかと考えます。それは子供のしつけ・教育のためであり、上述のような健康面でのトラブル防止、公衆の面前でみっともない姿を晒さないためでもあります。
また今や街中に外国人がいることも当たり前の光景なので、彼等にこうした日本人をみせてしまうのは国の品格から本当に正しいことなのか悩ましいです。

それでは、どうぞ花見の宴でも 清く正しく背筋まっすぐ 素敵な一日を！
