The Day of Miracle is coming soon!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
I feel really happy to have peaceful morning everyday.
TV news said that there are many people who don’t know Aug.6th.
August 6th is very important day.
There is another important day for people who was born in this city.
Yes, it is the August 9th, 3 days later.
Several coincidences happened that day.
It was cloudy day in Kitakyushu by chance.
There were smart and brave employees in the steel company by chance.
They burned oils to make smokes by chance.
Those coincidences made my parent living well now and
myself running a small hostel in Kanmon now.
If such miracle didn’t happened the day,
Not only me, but also my friends born in this town
doesn’t exit and enjoy working hard in big cities now.
The TORII shrine gate, we pass through often,
might be one leg like TORII in Nagasaki.
(The sky above Kokura can be seen clearly from the park next to the TORII.)
At TOUKA,
the episode, how Kitakyushu was saved on the day, was explained to guests,
watching lighthouse and the city the lighthouse is lightning at.
The guest staying now is a teacher of elementary school in neighbor country.
He was listening carefully to the episode I told, as he visited Nagasaki before here, to study about atomic bomb for his students.
There are many guests who are using
“Northern Kyushu Area Pass” issued by JR Kyushu and
“SUNQ Pass” issued by Nishitetsu and other bus companies
to travel around north of Kyushu.
So most of them visiting here have plan to visit Nagasaki before/after here.
Soon, the day of 2017 will come.
At TOUKA, we will pray in silence toward the Sky above Kokura
and the Sky above Nagasaki, same direction but far away west.

まもなく奇跡の日！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
こうして平和な朝を迎えられることを心から喜びに思います。
世間では72年前の今日ことを知らない・忘れている人が増えているそうです。
８月６日も大切な日ですが、
北九州に産まれた人間にとっては、
さらに忘れてはいけない日がありますよね。
そう、それは３日後の８月９日。
その日、たまたまこの空が曇っていて、
聡明で、勇敢な製鉄所の社員が煙幕を張ってくれたおかげで、、、
近所に住む両親は今だ健在で、
自分もこの地で楽しく宿を営むことが出来ています。
奇跡が起こらなければ、、、
自分だけでなく、今大都会で働いている友人たちの中にも、
この世に存在すら出来ていない人が少なくないと思います。
よく通るこの鳥居も、長崎のように一本足だったかもしれません。
（鳥居横の海辺の公園からも小倉の空がよく見えます。）
ここ「灯火」では、
北九州を救ったそんなエピソードを、
一緒に灯台を見ながら、小倉の空を指差してゲスト達に話します。
現在滞在中のゲストはお隣の国の小学校の先生。
夏休み明けに生徒に話すため長崎を訪問した後、北九州入りしたということで、
意外な地で聞く、長崎原爆の話でしたが、本当に真剣に話を聞いてくれました。
JR九州の発行する「Northern Kyushu Area Pass」
西鉄などバス会社の発行する「SUNQパス」
このどちらかを利用して、北部九州をまわるゲストが多いので、
関門に来るのに前後して、長崎に行かれる人も少なくありません。
多くのゲストは自分の話す原爆の話を真剣に聞いてくれます。
まもなくその奇跡の日、そして悲劇の日。
「灯火」では、小倉の空に向かって、
そして、その同じ方角のずっと先にある長崎の空に向かって、
静かに手を合わせます。
