The Matters which I think of today

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I sometimes loose sense of the day.

When I recognize that what day is today’s holiday, I remember the topic which we discussed with guests several times.

The topic was “Conscription”.

It is serious concern of young males in the neighbor country.

I imagined that it is hard for them to stay away from ordinary life for about 2 years.

Because the difference between the boy who will go for military service and the boy who just finished it is very big, the hardness of conscription for them is more than my imagination.

According them, in the north country of them has 8 years of military service.

It seems to be a social problem that they lost chance to get girlfriend and that their girl friends fool around with other guys during their absence. Many young guys are in trouble caused by conscription system. (I cheered them up with saying “you are lucky to know before marriage that your girlfriend is such a bitch.”)

They envy this country who doesn’t have conscription system.

But declining birthrate is making it harder for our self defense force to get new young members in this country. And recent economic recovery made it much harder. I remember to hear from senior self defense officer said that young member resign easily when they meet with strict training.

How they keep the number of staff to protect our country.

On the constitution day, young people from five different countries sleep under a small roof of this guesthouse. I am feeling that “country” will become no use from the global size democracy point of view.

Is it only me who think unhappiness is created because there are concept of “countries”. Even Olympic game, I think that it doesn’t need to be the World Team Trophy.

今日、自分が考えなくてはならないこと

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

外国人相手の宿屋をしていると、曜日の感覚がなくなります。

ふと今日は何の祝日かに気付くとともに、ゲストとの会話を思い出して、当初考えていた記事を差し替えます。

ゲストとの会話、どんな話題かというと、、、

徴兵制。

お隣の国では男子の間で本当に切実な問題のようです。

20代前半で俗世から2年近くも離れることは大変だろうと想像できますが、

これから兵役に行くというゲストと、兵役明けでやって来たゲストとの表情の差から、その大変さは自分の想像を越えていることに気付かされます。

ちなみに、そのまた北にある国では8年間も兵役があるそうです。

兵役のために婚期を逸したり、兵役中に彼女が浮気をしてしまうことが社会現象にもなってしまうそうで（そういう相手だと分かって良かったねと、慰めますが）、表面にでていない切実な問題にも悩まされているそうです。

さて、我が国。徴兵制のないこの国をゲスト達は羨ましがります。

けれども今や少子化で自衛官のなり手がおらず、昨今の景気回復でさらに国防活動も人手不足が如実です。年配自衛官に聞くと、最近は少し厳しく指導すると辞めていく自衛官も少なくないようです。

国防を担う人材、、、これからどう確保するのでしょうね。

憲法記念日の今日、5カ国の若者が灯台下のちいさい一つ屋根の下で眠ります。
近い未来、世界民主主義的の観点から、「国」なんて要らなくなるような予感さえします。

そもそも「国」なんてあるから、不幸が生まれるのだと考えるのは自分だけでしょうか？ オリンピックですら国別対抗でなくても良いように思います。
