The property I really want to inherit

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Finally we are getting into the Winter here in Kanmon area. Weather forecasters said that it is the normal temperature but we feel “very cold”, because it had been warm last several weeks.

There is not only bad things in cold climate in Kanmon’s winter.

Yesterday, I got shared local winter speciality in my parents house. This is relatively new speciality of this area. Because friends of my parents are running farms along east coast of this area, they have given my parents fresh gift from the sea in this time of year.

If the timing is right, we have sometimes went out with our guests to taste the speciality of winter. The guests who experienced it says yummy and we have proud of it.

I do want to inherit this property (procurement channel = human relation) from my parents.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

ここ関門にも、とうとう冬がやってきました。例年の寒さらしいですが、これまで暖かかった分、すごく寒く感じます。

関門の冬は、寒くても嫌なことばかりではありません。

つい昨日も実家で、この地の「冬の味覚」をおすそ分けしてもらいました。比較的あたらしいこの地域の名産品（銘産品）です。親が仲良くしている方が養殖を営んでいることもあり、この時期になると採れたばかりの新鮮なものをいただきます。

タイミングが合えば、ゲストといっしょに食べに行くこともある「冬の味覚」。食べた人はみなさんとても美味しいと喜ばれます。

そんな美味しい調達ルート（人間関係）、しっかり受け継ぎたいですね。

Port town fine Art can be available for your Instagram!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

“Matsunaga Bunko”, which is exhibiting posters and equipments of movie series “It is tough to be a man”, is locating in the renovated space of historic warehouse in this port town.

This is just between you and me, there is an artistic block around this warehouse.

This wall art was produced by Mr.Takashi Matsuura* and staffs of “Mojiko Art Research Center”.
(*Mr. Matsuura is a director of the center. His atelier locates a little far from the port and we sometime visit there and get healed by his art works which has gentle, quiet but brilliant atmosphere like this wall art. Because we tend to be depressed in this town, becoming desolate day by day.)

However this wall art is positioning a little far from major flow line of sightseeing and only a few tourists can noticed this and others are going away without seeing this. I found out it after watching people/tourists for a while.

We do recommend all tourists who travel Mojiko to stop by this spot and take a selfie in front of this wall art. We bet you can feel comfortable at this spot.

アートに、、、映える？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

前記事で紹介した「男はつらいよ 映画資料展」を開催中の「松永文庫」。歴史的に価値のある港湾倉庫をリノベした建物の一角にあります。

実はこの倉庫に沿って、とってもアートな区画があるんです。

この素敵な壁画を制作したのは、この港町にあって積極的に芸術活動を展開されているアーティストの松浦孝*氏と門司港美術工芸研究所のメンバー。
（*松浦氏は同所所長。港町から少し離れたところにある松浦氏のアトリエには時折お邪魔して、こちらの絵にもみられる優しくて静かながらも華やかな作品に、寂れていくだけの港町で落ち込みがちな心と目の保養をさせていただいたりしています。）

ところがこの壁画、観光スポットでもある「関門海峡ミュージアム」や「松永文庫」のすぐそばにありながら、観光動線からほんの少しだけ逸れているために、見ているとほとんどの観光客はこの絵の存在に気付かずに駅方面に戻ってしまうようです。

港町散策の際はこちらのウォールアートの前で自撮り撮影などいかがでしょう？
ほっこり気分になれること間違いなしです。

Future of this area can be expanded, depends on the imagination!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Three years have passed since I came back here, and I feel the importance of the STRENGTH of local area!

Local area have something which Tokyo and other big cities doesn’t have. Depends on the ways and the ideas to utilize them, they can be big weapons/sales tools of the area.

There is one example which is “Time table of local airport”. Tokyo HANEDA/NARITA don’t have such a time table. (If they make, it will be thick book.)

I talked about our favorite “Yamaguchi-Ube Airport” in the last article and I found out that their time table is pretty fun to read.

What is fun?

They have only one regular international flight route for Seoul and flights are only three per week. However their time table contains various city names in Southeast Asia. The reason is their time table explains how we can transit flight at Seoul (Inchon) airport simply. When I saw the time table, I start feeling that I want to try traveling to South-east Asia. We could feel how CHOSHU-JIN ( = Yamaguchi people) made effort to maximize the value of limited flight, limited destination and limited paper tool.

If we make it by spending precious budget, we should make it as fun as possible.
If we make from force of habit, it becomes the one with zero excitement and it will lose funs.

Moving between Tokyo and Kanmon, I feel that mass of GAIJIN tourists in Tokyo and other big cities now will move to local areas in Japan. Because majority of tourists are interested in deep aspect of this country. There are so many local areas in Japan that some of them can be the LOSER without SWAT analysis of themselves and timely strategy.

夢、拡がるか否か？ それは作り手の想像力次第！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

東京から戻って約三年。最近思うのが「地方の強み」！

地方には東京にはないものがあり、活用法次第・アイデア次第で「化ける」ものが少なくありません。

その一例が「地方空港の時刻表」。これは羽田や成田にはありません。（作ると分厚い本になってしまいます。）

お気に入りの「山口宇部空港」については、先の記事で触れましたが、この空港の「時刻表」が見ていて非常に楽しいことに最近気付きました。

なにが楽しいって、、山口宇部から飛ぶ国際線は週３便のソウル行きしかないのに、時刻表には東南アジアの魅力的な地名が沢山載っています。つまりソウルでの乗り継ぎ情報が「時刻表」に分かりやすく載っているんです。それを見ると東南アジアに旅行したいなという気持ちになってきます。限られた便数、限られた行き先、限られた紙面という制約を最大限に活用しよう、という長州人のセンスと努力が感じられます。

予算をかけて、せっかく作るんなら、より楽しく！
惰性で作られたものはワクワク感ゼロで、いつか見向きされなくなるでしょう。

東京と関門とを行き来していて感じます。大都市圏で溢れているガイジン観光客はさらにディープなにっぽんを求めて地方に流れ始めているようです。数ある「地方」は自らの弱み・強みをきちんと理解して、タイムリーにアピールしていかないといつのまにか「負け組」になってしまうかもしれません。

P.S. ローカルなニュースですが、吉富町の観光パンフレットが「ふるさとパンフレット大賞」を受賞したと昨日報道されました。これこそ逆転の発想、地方の強み、見習うべきセンスなのかもしれません。
