Kanmon tales from times past

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Since the candle event last weekend, our port town has been lighten up.

In that article, I mentioned that I could not imagine such drastic change of the town.

Just two week ago, some people called “Kanmon Week”, held several events concerning about decline and development of this area, and broadcasted several TV programs of such history.

Among the programs, various video/pictures which reminded us those day of the town were broadcasted.

One of them is this!

Now the building (old bonded shed) was renovated and has been used as group vaccination venue against COVID-19 infection recently.

The difference between now and forty years ago that surprised me most was shore line. On the place where used to be the sea, there is a museum now.

The changing hometown. If you had been living this town and have not come back for a long time, how about come and see the difference.

関門今昔物語

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

先週末のイベントより、ライトアップされるようになったわが港町。

その記事で子供の頃にはこんな町になるとは想像だにしていなかったことを書きましたが、、、

折しも、先々週は「かんもんウィーク」とか呼んで、この町の衰退・発展を振り返るイベント・番組がたくさん報道されました。

そんな番組の中には当時を思い出させる画像がたくさん紹介されていました。

その一つがこちら！

建物は今や綺麗にリノベされて、コロナワクチンの集団接種会場になっていたりします。

そして、なによりも驚きは四十年前と今とでは海岸線の位置が大きく変わっていること。元々は海だった場所に今ではミュージアムが建っています。

変わりゆく故郷、、、生まれ育った町にずっと帰っていない人は、どれだけ変わっているか見てみませんか？
