Gotta lot of lucks in the stardust night!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
The Festival (“MekariShinji”) was held in Kanmon area in the midnight of Chinese New Year Eve.
It was pretty good for us this year.
High pressure had increased temperature in the last two days and rain was stopped in Eve morning. So we could see the stars* during the festival.
(*Chinese Calendar based on Moon cycle start with New Moon. So we see a lot of stars in New Year Eve.)
As we arrived at the Mekari Shrine pretty early, we got parking spot.
We could enjoy drinking AMAZAKE during waiting time.
Just as scheduled, KAGURA (Japanese sacred dance) started 11pm. Our guest keep typing on her smart phone and broadcast it to her friend in her country through SNS.
We all enjoyed climax of the dance, watching goblin lighted fire works on bamboo tree.
Just before the climax, goblin scattered MOCHI (rice cake) and our guest got bag of MOCHI thrown directly from goblin.
Because it might affect to her sightseeing plan of next day, we canceled watching main event (WAKAME GARI = harvesting sea weed for the god) and went back to our guesthouse, but our guest satisfied with unique experience of local festival.
According to her, immigration counter made her waiting for an hour at the airport and she left her luggage in airport bus, because she got upset by the immigration. So she was saying “Today is my bad luck day”, however I believe that she could feel it changed to good luck day, no no “Good Luck New Year”, after watching the festival.

星降る夜、両手いっぱいに幸運いただきました！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
旧正月の早朝（深夜）に開催された神々しいお祭り。
今年はとても良かったです。
高気圧のせいで前々日から気温は上がり、雨も当日の朝にはあがって、お祭りの最中、空にたくさんの星が見えました。
（太陰暦は新月から始まるので、旧正月のイブ（大晦日？）は星がたくさん見えるんです。）
神社には早めに着いたので、駐車場も便利なところに駐めることが出来ました。
待ち時間も甘酒を飲みながら、ゆっくり過ごすことが出来ました。
予定されていた11時ちょうどに神楽が始まり、ゲストはスマホを駆使して友達にSNS実況中継。
クライマックスの竹の上での花火は超盛り上がりました。
上から撒かれた紅白餅も最後にまとめて袋に詰められたものがゲストの手の中に飛び込んできて、とても良い経験をしてもらいました。
翌日の観光に響くため、メインイベントの「ワカメ刈り（和布刈神事）」はキャンセルし、宿に戻りましたが、ゲストは十分喜んでいました。
入国審査で散々待たされた挙句、イライラしたせいかバスに忘れ物をし、異国の警察にまでお世話になり、アンラッキー・デイだと嘆いていたゲストの気持ちも、日付が変わった途端にラッキー・デイ、いやいや新年だけにラッキー・イヤーに変わったことだと思います。
