The most difficult recovery!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This weekend, three days holiday in Japan, we have a group of guests who are the exchange student from foreign country. Now they go to local university.

“Why did you choose local university, not Tokyo?” I asked.

And they replied after few second. “Our parents worried about it.”

When I first heard that, I thought that their parents are worry about big city life. But I understood real meaning after talking more with them.

It means that their parents/family are worry about “Fukushima”.

However I could not deny their understanding and I could not say that there is no problem there.

It is because of my experience of visiting Fukushima for volunteering 2 years after the big earthquake/tsunami. I saw there big difference of recovering speed between Fukushima and other tsunami damaged area and I could not want to go further than inspection gate to the nuclear power plants.

I felt that it is difficult to determine true and false. It is the most difficult to recover from invisible risk.

Now, eight and half years have passed since the big earthquake/tsunami, but I recognized that it is most difficult to recover from damage of both domestic and especially overseas people’s mind. Unfortunately our government, who don’t understand the meaning of snuggling up, may not be able to make the day happen, when anybody can trust the perfect safety from radio active of the power plant.

一番むずかしい復興！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この連休、海外からの留学生グループにご利用いただきました。留学先は地方の大学です。

「なぜ東京の大学ではないの？」と問いかけると、少し間をおいて、

「家族がとても心配したから」と返ってきました。

そう聞いた時、ご両親が「都会での生活を心配している」のかなと思ったのですが、話をするうちに分かってきました。

それは、どうも「福島が近いから」ということらしいのです。

それが分かった時、即座にそんなことはないと否定も、もう絶対に大丈夫だよと安全を肯定することもできませんでした。

震災の二年後、福島にボランティアに行った際、他の被災地と比べて道路・家屋の復旧がまったく手付かずだった現状を見たし、原発に続く道路の検問の手前まで行った時にも、その先に行ってみたいとは思いませんでした。

本当に安全かどうかなんて断言できないと身をもって感じました。目に見えない恐怖だからこそ払拭するのが非常に難しいのです。

震災から８年半、そんな（国内外の）人の心の復興こそが一番難しいと実感した週末でした。残念なことに「寄り添う」という言葉の意味も正しく理解していない人たちでは、内外に向けて真の安全を信じてもらえる日を実現出来ないかもしれません。
