Toward Happy Direction!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Friday before last weekend was called “SETSUBUN”, which is Japanese calendar date, and Setsubun Events was held in many families and groups, all over Japan.
Most famous event was “MAMEMAKI ( = Throwing Beans), but recently “EHOUMAKI ( = Happy Direction Roll) has become popular in Japan. This Setsubun, I was in my home town for the first time in 30years. My mother brought her handmade EHOUMAKI SUSHI to TOUKA. I was surprised that EHOMAKI habit came even in my parent’s house.
EHOUMAKI habit is that people eat EHOUMAKI ( = Happy direction sushi roll) on Setsubun day. I have a lot of doubt about this habit. Because happiness is different from each other but praying for happiness toward only one direction is nonsense. This kind of habit is very suitable to Japanese who is happy with majority of people (taking one favor/flavor, cannot take long vacation differently from others, and so on). But it doesn’t fit to the trend of now and future “Diversity”.
Then, which direction is EHOU ( = happy direction) of mine?
Do you know which direction is yours?
I have been wondering for few decade, but I found it clearly.

I don’t say many people have same direction but,
some guests have same direction.

Don’t you find your own happy direction, not the direction someone told you.

真の“恵方”を向いて！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
この週末に先駆ける金曜日、日本では「節分」という季節の節目が訪れて、全国各地・各家庭で節分のイベントが開催されました。
イベントとして最も一般的なのは「豆まき」ですが、ここ十数年でポピュラーになった習慣としては「恵方巻き」があげられると思います。
今回およそ３０年振りに故郷で「節分」を迎えたのですが、近いとはいえ「灯火」まで、母が手作りの巻き寿司を持ってきてくれたのでビックリしました。
自分の実家にまでも「恵方巻き」文化が浸透していたなんて、、、
この「恵方巻き」、節分にその年の「恵方」を向いて食べると幸せになれるという風習ですが、自分には疑問がいっぱいです。なぜなら幸せは人それぞれなのに、その向きが一方向だけというのは極めて矛盾しているからです。長いものには巻かれたい日本人にはいかにもウケそうな習慣で、「多様性」を重視するこれからの風潮とは相反しています。
それでは、自分自身の「恵方」はいったいどちらの方向でしょうか？
ご自身の恵方をご存知ですか？
自分の場合、何十年もその方向を悩んできましたが、、、、
今では、ハッキリ分かります。それは、、、

皆、同じとはいいませんが、ゲストの何人かも同じだったようです。

寿司食う方向、人に言われた方角でなく「自分自身の本当の恵方」見つけてみませんか？
