Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
In this town, there are several bad sample of wasting important asset of us.
This heritage designed building in our port town
Actually, it is a library everyone can use.
However, far from being open to public, even local residents don’t know it as a library.
To be precise, it WAS a library.
Its formal name was “Kitakyushu International Friendship Memorial Library”.
As the user of the library was very few, it has full of quiet, relaxed and healing atmosphere, and it was my most favorite site in Mojiko Retro.
I have planned to utilize the library as my place to hangout after my business get on the right track. And I have felt I am very nearly that point.
But the library was closed.
I am very very sorry to hear the news of its closing.
(The building was originally build with the courtesy from city of Dalian, to be a symbol of both cities’ friendship. I feel a little worry about friendship after closing.)
On the contrary, there is a good sample of success utilizing library for regional revitalization in same island “Kyushu”.
There was some confusion when it was opened, but now, there was full of users and its parking lot both for car and bicycle are full even weekday. The town is not as large as our town.
Population of the town, Takeo city, is about 48,000-.
Population of our town, Moji ward, is about 97,000-.
What will we do as a town with double size of the town?

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
この町には、せっかくの町の資産を活かせなかった例が（いくつも）あります。
我が港町にあるこの建物、、、
地元住民でも知る人は少ないようですが、実は誰もが利用できる図書館です。
正確に言うと、図書館でした。
去る今年3月末をもって、（私に惜しまれながら）閉館してしまいました。
正式名称は「国際友好記念図書館」でした。
利用者の少ない環境が心地よくて、抜群の癒やし（隠れ）スポットだったのですが、隠れスポット度合いが高すぎたようです。
自分としてはゲストハウスのある生活様式にようやく慣れ、これからこの図書館をフル活用しようと考えていた矢先の閉館、、、残念で仕方ありません。
（姉妹都市との友好の発信地になってほしい、との願いを込めて開館したようですが、閉館とともに友好の火は消えないだろうかと危惧されます。）
これに対して、同じ九州には「図書館」を活かした地方創生の良い例もあります。
町の規模は大きくありませんが、こちらの図書館は平日でも利用者が多く、駐輪場・駐車場共にいっぱいでした。
さて、こちらの市の人口が４万８千人。当区の人口が９万７千人。
自治体の規模はおよそ倍以上、、、わが町、さあどうする？？
