It was the news about industry in Seto Inland Sea area.

It seems that one street company is closing their business.

After watching the news, we see strong fire light of making steel at the same company’s plant in this town.

もうひとつだけ今週のニュースについて関連する話を。

そのニュースとは瀬戸内の産業についての内容でした。

ニュースを見た後、昨晩客室の掃除をしていると、窓の外ではこの町の製鉄所からのぼる炎の強い光が輝いて見えました。

Don’t turn off the lights!

It seems that we won’t loose the lights of the strait.

We found it in headline local news of this week.

Because local government misread their regional situation and the reputation of the land, the public bidding for next tenant ended in failure and the explanation at the press conference was unclear at all. So we all just don’t think it’s a very cool result. However,

for now, it looks like the precious lights of this strait will not go out. That really makes us feel relieved.

灯りを絶やすな！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

どうも海峡の灯り、消えずに済みそうです。

今週のニュースで判明しました。

地域情勢やその土地に対する人気を見誤った結果、期待外れに終わった一般公募のみならず、記者会見での説明もぜんぜん冴えなくて、なんかとてもカッコ悪い結果にしか思えませんが、、、

とりあえずはこの海峡の大事な灯りが消えずに済みそうで良かったと心から思いました。

この日曜に撮りに行った対岸の様子も無駄に終わって良かったです。

７８年の利己主義 / Our egoism for 78 years

Our egoism for 78 years

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Every summer, all of Japanese people have become pacifists.

We all look back memories and records of bombing each city/town and damage of atomic bombs.

It is not bad welcoming past enemy president and leaders of developed countries to atomic-bombed land and praying together for world peace.

However we have not had any chances or any memorial days to repent of invasions and bombing done by Japanese Army.

Nowadays, we have so many tourists in Japan from all over the world and we are actually having guests from the town once Japanese Army attacked.

When we host such guests, I personally have some kind of strange feeling, under the condition that Japanese head of state or Emperor have never visited the town in memory of the victims. Is it only myself who feel like that?

７８年の利己主義

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

毎年夏、日本では国民全員がこぞって平和主義者になります。

各地の空襲の記憶や記録を辿ったり、原爆の被害を振り返る機会が増える夏。

自国で炸裂した原爆被害からの平和祈念に敵国の大統領や、先進国の首脳が参加して世界平和に近づく気分を醸成するのは決して悪いことではありませんが、、、

この国が行った侵略や空襲・空爆や虐殺などに対して悔い改める機会はあまりありません。

外国人の日本旅行がブームになる中、そんな日本軍の爪痕残る町からも日本を旅行される人が当宿にいらっしゃいます。

そんなゲストさんをホストしながら、国家元首が訪問しての謝罪などないままの状態で、なんか微妙な気分になるのは自分だけでしょうか？
