A certain famous university in this city.

Don’t you want to cheer up someone trying their hardest?

This week, we are having a typical guest of this season.

Yes, she is a preparatory student.

She came from China to take entrance examination of a certain famous university in this city.
(It is the school, we use mono-rail to go there, you know?)

Today is date of her examination, and yesterday was her birthday.

We can’t afford not to celebrate/cheer her, after hearing that and watching her studying very hard here. So we decided to hold TAKOYAKI party for her with Korean boys to celebrate/cheer her.

そう、受験生です。
はるばる中国から当市にある「某有名一流公立大学？」を目指しての受験です。
（それがどこかは通学にモノレールを使うと言えばわかるかな？）

本日が面接受験で、なんと昨日は誕生日！

そこまで聞くと応援しないわけにはいかない気質なので、韓流男子たちも巻き込んで誕生＆受験応援たこ焼きパーティを開催しました。

“That’s what I thought!”

One scene stopped my eyes, during I was driving.

They seem like travelers who stay in other accommodation, not us TOUKA.
But I don’t wonder where are they going to stay.

They might be JOJ (just off the jet), carrying big suitcases and big bag, watching their smart phone searching where to go.

Matter of concern is their BIG BAGs.

They are “Plastic Bag of Duty Free Shop”.

Because they (Duty free bag and Air-caps) are the biggest garbage from our guesthouse every week.
They are really more than I could imagine.

In this city, local government is investigating tourists’ travel/shopping behavior to make measures for more shopping in this city, such as making new duty free shop in the middle of town, opening FM radio station targeting tourists from foreign countries and so on.
However, tourists visiting this town finished almost of all major shopping before they left their home counties.
(What they shop in this town are cheap cosmetics and sweets for their souvenir.)

Local government continuing questionnaire survey everywhere in this city but this phenomenon may be out of scope.

We hope that someone make action to reduce our garbage:
1. To investigate what they purchasing at duty free shop in their countries.
2. To advice local shop and duty free shop fascinating variety of goods.
3. To promote our charm point of shopping in this town.
4. To make “bring out (duty free) items” bigger than “bring in items”.

ずっとずっと気になっていること！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

「やっぱり、そうだっ！」

街を車で走っていて、ある光景が目に留まりました。

おそらく、ウチではない別の宿泊先を探している海外からの旅行者。
ライバルとしてどこに泊まるのかその宿泊先が気になっているのではありません。

飛行機で着いたばかりでしょうか、スーツケース以外にも大きな荷物を持って、街をウロウロ、スマホを見ながら行き先を確認している様子です。

気になるのはその「大きな荷物」！

「免税店の袋」です。

なぜなら、当宿が出すゴミに占める一番のボリュームがコレだからです。
グループ客ともなると、それはすごい量です。

この地では自治体をあげて、市内で買い物をしてもらいたいとあの手この手、免税店を新設したり、旅行客向けのローカルFM曲を開設したりしていますが、残念ながら実態はこの地に降り立った時点で、既に高額のお買い物はほぼ終了しているようです。

（市内で購入するのは、お土産用の比較的単価の安い、コスメや駄菓子が多いみたいです。）

市内で旅行者向けのアンケートが実施されているみたいですが、コレってきっと死角でしょう。

当宿のごみ減量のためにも、、、
1. 彼らが自国を出国前にどんな免税品を購入するのかしっかり調べ、
2.「市内免税店や商店に本当に魅力ある品揃え」を充実させて、
3.「その魅力が旅行開始前に届くように発信」することで、
4.「持ち込まれる免税品」より「持ち出される免税品」を増やして欲しいですね。

三月末まで申し訳ない状況が続きます！/ Sorry until the end of March!

Sorry until the end of March!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In these days, we often get requests of early check-in. At the same time, many guests are checking out very early.

As we are a cheap guesthouse, we accept to keep their luggage most of the time. But we recognized that some guests have almost begged us to let them take rest here.

The biggest reason is the current flight schedule. There was only one flight between Seoul and Kitakyushu in the morning. Now a few guests taught us that they left home around 4am the day.

It is natural that they feel tired after lunch time after their arrival. Because they couldn’t take nap during the short flight.

We have been looking for good advice for them and found out that Kitakyushu Airport is not a guest friendly airport. It is because of its airport lounge. Usually airport lounge is a relaxation space for the guests of both departure and arrival. However the lounge HIMAWARI in Kitakyushu airport is only for the guest of departure.

For example, the lounge KIRARA in Ube airport, which is neighbor airport of Kitakyushu, is open for both departure and arrival.

So I could take rest with good sofa and free drink, whenever I feel tired.

In the same time, I feel sympathy when I was sending off our guests who have to check out in the dark before 7am, because of the same reason as above.

So I ardently hope that there will be also evening flight after March 25, for our guests who will come from Seoul, the capital of neighbor friend’s country.

三月末まで申し訳ない状況が続きます！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

最近、当宿ではアーリーチェックインの依頼がよく入ります。同時にアーリーチェックアウトのゲストも。

安宿につき、荷物預かりぐらいは対応させていただいているのですが、やり取りをするうちに、疲れているので、少し休ませてもらえないかという、嘆願に近い依頼だということが分かりました。

その理由は、主力航路のソウル – 北九州便が朝早い便しかないからみたいです。聞けば、早朝4時に自宅を出て、仁川国際空港に向かったという話もけっこう聞きます。

それでは、お昼すぎには疲れが出てきますよね。搭乗時間もあっという間で居眠りもできないし、、、

そんなゲストさん達になんとか良いアドバイスが出来ないかと調べて分かったのですが、北九州空港って、あまり「やさしくない」んです。なんのことかと言えば「ラウンジ」です。本来、出発前、到着後の寛ぎの場であるべき施設が北九州では「出発時のみ」しか利用できないみたいです。

ちなみに、お隣の宇部空港ではラウンジは出発前・到着後どちらでも利用することが出来るので、疲れている時には良質ソファーとフリードリンクとで休憩がとれてとても助かります。

同じ理由で、7時前の暗いうちにチェックアウトしていくゲストに同情してしまうのは、当宿だけでしょうか？

ゲストさん達のことを思い、3月25日以降にはソウルとの午後/夕方便が再登場することを願って止みません。
