Is this a space attraction?

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We already mentioned about reclaiming of this port. It was the development for tourism. When they started the project, they wanted to make this town like OTARU in Hokkaido. However the town which earn money from gourmet style tourism is mainly Shimonoseki, the other side of Strait, because there is no strong sales point here. This town seems to be satisfied with a minor part in the play in gourmet tourism in Kanmon area.

The biggest facility in reclaiming area is this.

This facility was opened originally in 2003, renovated last year and reopened after renovation in this September.

“Kanmon Strait Museum”

As new facilities, they pride themselves on “Strait Atrium” which has the biggest size screen in Japan and observation restaurant with strait view accessible by unique lightened escalator. (senior group was enjoying party like alumni meeting).

However, we TOUKA will recommend our guests who came from foreign countries to visit a little different part of the museum.

え、スペースマウンテン？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この港町の開発による埋め立てについては、先に記事にしましたが、、、その開発とは観光開発です。企画当時は小樽のような集客ができる場所にしたかったようです。けれど食の要素が弱いため、小樽のような観光（グルメ）消費は対岸の下関が主役で、こちら側は脇役に徹するようです。

さて、その埋立地にある最大の施設がこちらです。

2003年に建設され、昨年リノベーションを着工し、この９月末にリニューアルオープンしました。

「関門海峡ミュージアム」

新しい施設としては、日本最大級の巨大スクリーンを有する「海峡アトリウム」や、不思議なエスカレーターをのぼったところにある海峡を眺めながら食事のできる展望レストランが自慢のようですが（年配のグループが同窓会のような食事会に利用中でした）、海外からの旅行客に当宿「灯火」がオススメしているのは、それらとは少し違う部分です。

あたらしくなった港町、是非体験しにいらしてください。
