Risk of too much relying on IT
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
The restaurants weren’t the only good experiences I had during my trip to Tokyo this time.
I also found a cafe with a great view, although it was a chain cafe…
How about enjoying a cup of coffee while looking out at the large bridge crossing the strait?
Those who know will know that what you are seeing in the picture is not the Kanmon Bridge in our town.
The next image shows the view that greets you when you go out to the second floor terrace.
When night falls and the bridge is lit up, the atmosphere becomes simply amazing.
I’ve been going back and forth between Tokyo and Kitakyushu many times before,
so I was surprised that I hadn’t ended up here before.
If you think about it, that’s no surprise, as the main reason is that IT route guidance has always avoided this area,
and being one of those travelers who tends to rely on IT, I’d missed this place for 10 years.
It’s hard to believe that, despite being such a spectacular spot, there are so few people visiting the cafe.
I regret having avoided this place until now just to avoid minor traffic jams and congestion.
I was reminded once again that maximum efficiency does not necessarily lead to maximum happiness.

ITに頼りすぎることの危うさ
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
今回の東京行き、良い体験したのは食堂ばかりではありません。
絶景のカフェも発見できました、っと言ってもかのチェーン店ではありますが、、、
大きな橋を見ながらの珈琲で一服する、なんていかがでしょう？
分かる人にはわかると思いますが、見えているのはわが町の関門橋ではありません。
二階のテラスに出ると広がる光景が次の画像。
夜の帷が降りて、橋が点灯されると、その雰囲気は最高なものになります。
これまで何度も東京・北九州間を行き来していて、ここに辿り着かなかったのが不思議でしたが、
よく考えるとそれもそのはず、ITによるルート案内が常にこの地域を避けていたのが最大の理由で、
そのITに頼る傾向の旅行者の一人だったがゆえに、この場所を１０年間も見逃していたわけです。
これほどの絶景スポットにも関わらず、カフェの利用者が超少ないことも信じれない状況です。
ちょっとした渋滞・混雑を避けるためだけに、これまでここを回避していたことが後悔されます。
最大効率の先にあるのが、最大の幸福感ではないことをあらためて気付かされました。
