Oh my gee! Such a regional disparity!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I have felt strange since I returned to my home town.

And I got the reason why yesterday!

I have had a favorite weekly magazine during my company business man period. Just before and after my retirement from ex-company, the magazine had inspired me a lot.

However, after I have returned to my hometown, the magazine is hard to get.

I could bought it at convenience stores in Tokyo, but there is not even the magazine shelf in convenience stores here in Kitakyushu. The magazine shelf is full of fashion, grommet, ramen, pachinko, automobile and adult magazines.

Most strange thing is that I cannot find the magazine on its sale date.

As so many time I could not find, I asked to book store staff where and why. And I see that there is time difference in delivery schedule between Tokyo and Fukuoka.

Fukuoka is 2 days behind than Tokyo.

Magazine industry has felt fear/risk of reducing sales of all kind of paper magazines.
amazon deliver the next day.

But this magazine comes to Fukuoka, 2 days later.

Topic article of this week is funny. It is about local idol group, BUT Fukuoka is 2 days behind.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

ふるさとにUターンしてからずっと違和感を感じていたこと、、、

その違和感がようやくはれました。

東京のサラリーマン時代、早期退職を決断する２年前頃から読むようになったある週刊誌。退職に前後する頃の特集記事には常にインスパイアされました。

その雑誌がUターンしてから、入手しづらくなった。東京ではコンビニでも買えたのに、ここでは経済誌というジャンルの棚がない。パチンコやファッション、ラーメングルメ雑誌などは結構あるのに、、、

極めつけは、繁華街のある隣町の大型書店に行っても発売日に陳列がない！

いつ行っても発売日に雑誌がないので、業を煮やして店員に聞いてみると、、、

「公表されている発売日は東京のもので、福岡だと２日遅れになります。」とのこと。

この高度情報化社会で『２日遅れ』とは、ガッカリです。

ただでさえ、紙の媒体による雑誌離れが止まらないのに、
これだけ物流も発達して、ama◯onなどネット通販では翌日配送もあるのに、
雑誌などの基本的生活情報では、まだまだ地域格差があることをあらためて認識させられました。

それも今週号などは、福岡のアイドルが特集記事なのに、
その福岡が東京の『２日遅れ』、、、いとをかし。

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Study walking tour of this town “Idemitsu Sazou wo Meguru”.
There was one more Highlight in this tour.

According to tour organizer, they always consider gourmet adding on each tour, because there is a big difference between tour with gourmet and without it. So this tour is also matched with one gourmet.

The gourmet is, of course, the speciality of Mojiko.

Yes, “YAKI-CURRY (baked curry rice)”!
This tour’s YAKI-CURRY was that of Old Mitsui Club.

Their YAKI-CURRY is served on KAWARA (Japanese roofing tile) style plate, with soup, salad, pickles, desert and coffee.

Cutlet, several seafoods in YAKI-CURRY made it looks deluxe, but total balance and aftertaste was not satisfactory level for me.

By the way, I knew that there are several ideas about the origin of YAKI-CURRY and how to become famous speciality of this town. During this tour, I could here another idea (which I didn’t knew).

The idea is:
* There was another original YAKI-CURRY restaurant named ”Mikado Shokudo”.
* Chief cook of ”Mikado Shokudo” is the father of tour guide. She talked about Mikado’s YAKI-CURRY to TV program TANKEN KYUSHU about 15 years ago and YAKI-CURRY became famous after that.

Furthermore, other interesting informations are:
* Renovation of Mojiko station may be postponed to later than original plan of completion March, 2018.
* There is an idea of revival ”Mikado Shokudo” in renovated Mojiko station.

and so on. It was really valuable tour for me with getting a lot of information about Idemitsu from walking dictionary of this town. I could study about history before I was born and events and news of recent 30 years, I was out of this town.

Specially it was unbelievable for me that YAKI-CURRY became the specially of this town, no matter most people (including me), grew up here, did never eat it before. However it is the one of my biggest curiosities that I want to know when, who, why and how about YAKI-CURRY.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

わが町を歩いてまわるガイド・ツアー「出光佐三をめぐる」。

このツアーには、実はまだ続きがあります。

主催団体によると今やツアーは「グルメ」を組み合わせないと人気が下がるらしく、企画するツアーの傾向はそうした配慮がなされているそうで、このツアーにも「グルメ」がセットになっていました。

そのグルメとは、、、もちろん門司港名物、、、

「焼きカレー」
それもツアーの集合・解散場所でもある旧三井倶楽部の焼きカレーセットです。

こちらのカレーは瓦風のプレートに盛られた焼きカレーに、スープ・サラダ・漬物・デザート・珈琲がセットになったものです。

焼きカレーにはカツやエビなど魚介等の具がたくさん入っていて、デラックスなのですが、全体のバランスも後味も微妙な感じの焼きカレーでした。
（デザートのバナナゼリーも昔食べたハ◯スのゼリーっぽく、それはそれで懐かしい味がしました。）

さて、この焼きカレー、その発祥と名物料理となった経緯には諸説あるようですが、このウォーキング・ツアーでも、（自分にとって）新しい説を聞くことが出来ました。

その説とは、、、
・発祥のお店の一つに、今はなき「みかど食堂」があって、
・「みかど食堂」のコック長のご家族でもある今回のガイドさんが、15年ほど前、テレビ番組「探検九州」の取材時に「焼きカレー」の存在をこぼした事が有名になった発端。

という興味深い話です。

さらに面白い情報として、、、
・2018（平成30）年3月末予定の門司港駅の改修工事完了に遅延の可能性があること。
・改修後の「門司港駅」で、その「みかど食堂（の味）」が復刻される期待もあること。

などなど、地元の生き字引ならではの貴重な情報を聞くことができて、非常に有意義なツアーでした。 30年ほど前に故郷を後にした自分にとって、生まれる前ことや空白の30年間の出来事を学ぶ良い機会となりました。

この町で生活していた頃に一度も食べたことのないメニューが、今や土地の「名物料理」として、海外から来るゲストにまでもてはやされていることには未だ驚きを隠せませんが、同時に真実・真相を知りたいという好奇心がこみ上げています。

Name of study walking tour is “Mojiko Meguru” Tour on Friday was “Idemitsu Sazou wo Meguru”.

It was guided tour by a person who was called as a walking dictionary of town. It was called in English “Walk along Mr. Sazou Idemitsu”, who is the model of movie “A Man called pilate”. Walking distance is about 2km (but we felt 3km because of heavy wind).

In the tour, we visited the place he open the first shop, his warehouse, Kousou Hachiman Shrine, etc.

Most impressive place of the tour was Idemitsu Museum. I didn’t know but there are hidden exhibitions in the museum and assistant director showed them to us specially.
(As we are requested not to describe them on internet, I cannot tell them more.)

Anyway, it was very interesting exhibition for the fun of “A Man called Pirate”. The walking tour was highly recommenced to the fun of the novel and movie.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

わが町を歩いてまわるガイド・ツアー、その名も「門司港めぐる」。
金曜日のプログラムは「出光佐三」をめぐる。

映画「海賊とよばれた男」の主人公のモデルとなった出光興産の創業者、出光佐三の創業当時の足跡をめぐるツアー。 ウォーキングとしては約2kmの軽いもの。
（ただしこの金曜日はまっすぐ歩けないほどの強風だったため、3kmぐらい歩いた感を味わえました。）

創業の地、甲宗八幡宮、当時出光商店の倉庫があったであろう運河跡など、丁寧な解説付きで非常に興味深いツアーでした。

なかでも感激したのは出光美術館にある出光創業資料室。 その中には関係者以外立入禁止エリアがあって、館長代理の佐々さんの特別のご厚意で見せていただいたその一角には驚きの施設が！

出光社員向けの展示室とのことなので、出光関係者ではない「海賊とよばれた男」ファンには超オススメのウォーキング・ツアーです。
