It has the worst reputation. Don’t misunderstand it!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This is the feedback from our guests.
Their impression about Japan is pretty good with full of good surprise most of the time. However there are few thing they are complaining.

It is “Fee of public transportation is very expensive.”

Cheap PASS designed by JR or Bus companies for foreign traveler was good, but normal ticket cost very expensive, compared with that of their countries.

And yet, railroad companies are thinking of one measure nation wide and even in Kyushu area too.

“Government started to study about price-up for barrier free”

“JR Kyushu is planning to install more platform door and price increase”

It is a problem for them to conclude measure with price-up.

There is no common sense of “Platform door is necessary for safety” from the global point of view. Some major cities adopted home door but only limited station or line. There is still open door coach cars running in the world.

We should avoid risks which may decrease inbound guest from other countries. These measure may make tourists think “traveling in Japan cost much” and they erase name of Japan from their list of next travel destination.

Fall prevention should be taken by other plan such as software and mental measures.

In addition, we Japanese should have not only island’s criteria but also global standard. Without knowing, we are forced to spend a lot of money for which we can save our money.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

当宿を利用されるゲストさんからのフィードバック。
日本文化や生活様式に対して概ね肯定的な驚きを感じていると話していかれます。ただその中でかなりの確率で否定的なイメージだとガッカリされていることがあります。

それは、、、

公共交通機関の利用料金の高さ！

JRやバス会社が販売している外国人旅行者向けの格安パスの評価は悪くないのですが、普通に利用する時の料金が、自国と比較して異様に高いと苦情を言われます。

それなのに、、、
全国的にも、九州でも、ある取り組みが進められようとしています。

「バリアフリー値上げに意見聴取へ」

「ＪＲ九州 五輪に向けホームドア増へ」

問題視すべきは、結論としての「鉄道料金の引き上げ」。

世界レベルでみて、ホームドアが必要なツールだという一般認識はありません。
主要都市でも採用されているところは一部です。
車両ドアが空いたまま走る列車もまだまだ少なくありません。

過剰品質のための価格上昇でインバウンド客離れだけは避けるべきです。
ここままでは「日本は交通料金の高い国」と印象が定着し、旅行先としての候補からはずされるリスクもあります。

落下防止には、もっとソフト・メンタルな対策を講じるべきではないでしょうか？

合わせて、日本人もまた「島国のものさし」だけでなく、「世界標準」でものを見る目を養う必要があるように感じます。
