Significant OVERDUE but That Shop Coming Soon!
Good morning to the World and welcome modern enlightenment to Kanmon!
I just noticed that important local news announced by JR Kyushu.
“Grand Opening of MOJIKO Station”
After all, they couldn’t make it on schedule. It is the significant overdue against original schedule.
(They don’t mention the delay like government.)
(Mojiko station as of Aug.5, 2018. What is the difference?)
However, the biggest surprise is not the delay and restaurant on second floor, but the announcement of opening Starbucks in the station building in the space where UDON stand used to be locating.
There is one thing I concern in the layout of the station building. It is that cafe space is too small for Starbucks business.
* It may be like the shop at Odakyu Exit in Shinjuku?
* It may be like the B1 shop in front of Shin-Marubldg.
Anyway, let’s expect how they open new shop in Mojiko station.
I am looking forward to seeing the shop with the concept “Fulfilling the quality relaxed space in retro mood station waiting room” as they mentioned.
I personally thought that Starbucks are suit more to the new developing commercial complex in east port area of Mojiko. But it seems they have stronger localism there. So I guess they challenge the space in JR’s properties where local people cannot complaint about. I prefer UDON stand in station entrance.
We will hear the sound of modern enlightenment here in Mojiko. And I bet we will see many tourist in ferry boat for Karato with Green marked cup in their hands.

予定は遅れに遅れ、、、で、とうとう我が町にもあの店が！
世界中に朝が、そして関門には文明開化がやって来ました。
おはようございます。
JR九州の発信した重要なニュースに今、気付きました！
結局、今秋のオープンは叶わなかったってことみたいですね。
（役所と同じで、更に予定遅れすることは微塵も書いていませんね。）
（８月５日付の門司港駅の様子、、、どこが変わったのかな？）
スケジュールが大幅に（当初予定よりも１年も）遅れたことよりも驚きは、かの店が構内に出店するという情報です。２階食堂ではありません。１階の以前うどんスタンドがあったあの場所にです。
ただ気になったことはスペースが狭すぎるように感じること。
・新宿小田急口のスタンドみたいな形式のお店で待合室で飲むのかな？
（そうなると、地元のお年寄りには使いづらい駅になるかも）
・それとも東京駅新丸ビル前地下みたいなコンパクトスタイルかな？
いずれにしても出店者の腕の見せどころですね。同時に地元店舗の腕の見せどころでもあり。
JR告知にあるコメント「当時の姿にタイムスリップしたような待合室のなかで高品質の空間を提供」に大いに期待したいと思います。
個人的には、東港町に新規開発される商業複合施設に出店する方が理想に近いと感じたのですが、あそこは「地産地消」「地域食文化」を掲げたローカリズムの強い施設のようなので、観光の本丸「駅構内」を攻めたのだろうと推測します。（JRの敷地内だけに地元も反対できなかったのかも。）駅には「うどん屋（丸天うどん）」欲しかったのが本心ですね。
さぁとうとう門司港にも文明開化の音が鳴ります。きっと来年の夏は緑色のマークがプリントされたコップを手にしたたくさんの観光客を渡船で見かけることでしょう。
