Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We are a guesthouse TOUKA with open mind in a port town open to the world.

We had expected to have guest from various countries and various races.

And now, we are very happy to be just like that.

We have variety of guests and recently we are noticing that we have new type of variety.

We have had variety of color pins on our map before we knows.

We are not sure but it may be because of gender issue has become very hot topic even in this country.

Yes, it is very popular topic in TV and other medias. However ordinary Japanese people rarely have chance to contact with the people of new type gender.

But we are hosting various people including LGBPQ without any difference.

Regardless of nationality, ethnicity or gender, we do welcome people if you don’t mind steep slope on the way to this guesthouse.

Please do not hesitate making reservation at this guesthouse.

みんなちがってみんないい

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

外に向かって開かれた港町の、外に向かって開かれた宿「灯火」です。

開業する前から、いろんな国の人、いろんな人種に利用してもらいたいと思っていて、

まさにそういう状況になっていることをうれしく思っていますが、

そうした「いろんな度」に、いつの間にかあらたな感覚が増えていることに気付かされます。

最近話題になっているせいか、東京だけ見ても、ゲスト・ピンの色が多様性に富んできています。

テレビ等で話題になっているとはいっても、日本ではまだ実際に接することは少ないのが新たなジェンダーですが、、、

ここにいると、そういう方も含めていろんなジェンダーに普段から接しているんだなぁと実感する今日このごろです。

国籍、人種、性別は問いません。ただただ、ここへやってくるまでの急坂さえ厭わなければどなたでも大歓迎です。

Reasonable fuel saving

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Now is the time of winter start but we have still not-so-cold days here.

On such day, this is very useful to heat this guesthouse.

Fuel price is very expensive now, so we save fuel for heating by this.

This is the only fire in this facility. We are paying extra care not burn too much and and start a fire here.

いい感じに燃料消費

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

本格的な冬を迎える時期になってきましたが、微妙に暖かかったりする日が多かったりしています。

そんな日に頼りになるのがコレ！

燃料が高騰している今日日、節約暖房を実現することが出来ています。

当宿の施設内では唯一の炎、炊きすぎや火災には十二分に気をつけて付き合っていきたいと思います。

エコエコ / Economy and Ecology

Economy and Ecology

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As there was one important thing we realized during our work fixing SHOJI paper, I will write a little more about it.

What did we realize?

We did DIY to change SHOJI papers and we found and surprised at ecology and energy-saving technique in Japanese culture.

At first. let me talk about economy. Changing SHOJI window paper DIY is very reasonable. And we get refreshed very much when we finished changing paper.

Secondly, as SHOJI window is made of wood, paper and starch, it is very light. Not like glass window, SHOJI doesn’t have wheels. Maintenance is also very easy.
( I remember that old style Japanese wooden shutter door also have no wheels.)

At last, let’s talk about recycling.

Nowadays, we trash the old papers removed from SHOJI, and they are gathered as garbage, and they are burned at incineration plants. As the result, CO2 is created through this process. However long time ago in Japan, such as EDO era, there were paper recycle men and they gathered trashed paper from all housed and brought them to paper making people. Paper was recycled/recreated as new WASHI (Japanese paper). It was the Zero Emission.

So I got an idea! How about developing new window system with the combination of wooden shutter*, simple glass window and SHOJI window? I personally think that it is perfect SDGs, isn’t it?
( *Recent Japanese house doesn’t have shutters, but they can work well against severer climate and crimes that get worse and worse. )

エコエコ

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

昭和のホラー漫画のことではありません。作業するなかで大きな気付きがあったので、もう少し障子の張り替えについて書こうと思います。

何に気づいたのでしょう？

当宿らしくＤＩＹで障子紙を交換する中で、昔からの日本文化に根付いてきた省エネ・リサイクルを実感し、驚きました。

まずはエコノミー。障子紙を購入して自分で張り替えると非常に安上がりです。張り替えるたびに気分もリフレッシュ出来ます。

次に省エネ。障子は木と紙と糊とで出来ているので、非常に軽いことです。軽いがゆえにサッシとは違いタイヤがありません。メンテナンスも楽です。
（同時に昔の木の雨戸にもタイヤはなかったことを思い出しました。）

最後にリサイクル。

いまでこそ剥がした古い障子紙はゴミ箱へ、そしてそれがゴミ回収されて、ごみ焼却炉で燃やされることで、CO2排出の元になります。しかし江戸時代には古紙回収屋がいて長屋単位に古紙を頻繁に集め、新たな和紙として再生していたようです。まさにゼロ・エミッション！

たとえば、木の雨戸＊、比較的簡易軽量なガラス・サッシ、障子戸の三つを現代的なデザインで組み合わせると、完璧なSDGｓの快適生活が送れる気がするのですが、、、どうでしょう？
（＊最近の住宅には雨戸ないのが一般的みたいですが、異常気象や凶悪犯罪に対して雨戸ある方が良いように思います。）
