One Guesthouse’s fault is another house’s lesson!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
OBON holiday has just started and we are in the most busy time of TOUKA. But I can’t stop thinking about IT.
What is IT? It is about close-down of one guesthouse.
About 3 years ago, I felt something strange about open my guesthouse in Tokyo area and decided to open in my hometown. I checked the guesthouse market around here. And I found the guesthouse pioneer who open one year before.
He raise the fund by “Crowdfunding”, which were pretty new system that time.

The project was supported by many people with big amount of money. So I surprised.
Also there were/are more than 1,000 of funs in “Facebook”.
I admired that I cannot do like him.
(What happen to the supporter of the project with money?)
The building of guesthouse is old Japanese house and used to be a red‐light district. It was so unique in Japanese guesthouse industry. As I couldn’t do like him, I worried about opening TOUKA here. I feel it was like yesterday, when I struggled about marketing target about two years ago.
The target of the guesthouse were “Mainly Japanese” “Intellectual Females”. So I considered to set ours, not to overlap it. (Anyway, it was lucky for me, because I am not good at these target.)
I re-visited to the guesthouse to meet with Mr. H to talk. However what I could see through glass window was cleaned up reception and I could not find him anywhere and no answer from the inside.
Yes, I can’t really stop thinking about it.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
お盆休みに突入し、書き入れ時なのに、、、気になって仕方ありません。
なにがって？ 同業者の閉店が、です。
関東での出店に違和感を感じて、出身地・地元での出店に心が固まった時に調べた時に、すでにその１年前に出店を果たしていた先駆者。
資金集めもその頃はあらてのクラウドファンディング。
多くの支援者を獲得、高額の資金を獲得されていたのに、驚いて、
フェイスブックにもゆうに千を越える支持者がいて、
自分にはここまで出来ないなあと感心していました。
（支援者から寄せられた期待って、こういう場合どうなるんだろう？）
活用した建物は古民家で、それも昔は遊郭だったという日本のゲストハウスの中でもかなり特殊な物件。こりゃ太刀打ちできないなと、マーケティングのターゲット設定を随分悩んだ２年半前が、まるで昨日のことのようです。
こちらの対象顧客が「日本人」「意識高い系女子」等だったのを見て、重複しないように検討を重ねたことも思い出されます。（そもそも自分の苦手とする分野だったのが幸い）
オーナーHさんに少しでも話を聞ければと、今週再訪問するも、入り口のガラス戸越しに見えたのは、きれいに片付けられた元受付で、そこに彼はいませんでした。
気になるなぁ、、、
