Lullaby from the strait
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
It is raining in Japan now. This is our subjective opinion but we think rain falling in this town makes us calm down strangely.
Usually people get disappointed when they have rain during their traveling period. But we looked back our guests’ behaviors on rainy morning, most of them have waken up pretty late, if they stayed two or more nights.
It may be because there are not so many places to see around Kanmon area or because they went back to sleep with hearing mixing sound of rain and foghorns from ship that they walk down to dining gracefully without rushing. Their faces looked pretty refreshed.
As we have lived here, we know that ships blow foghorns more frequent specially on the day of heavy rain.
It is the moment of bliss when we wake up but not get up and stay on the bed (in Futon, in TOUKA’s case) calmly listening the sound from outside of this guesthouse. Such morning situation cannot be enjoyed anywhere else rather than here, the town of strait. Don’t you come here and experience it, when things settle down with COVID-19,

海峡の子守唄
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
雨です。ずいぶんと勝手な見解ですが、この町の雨は不思議と心落ち着く気がします。
せっかくの旅行日に、その日が雨だと結構落ち込みますが、過去振り返ると、連泊利用されたゲストさんは中日が雨だと結構ゆっくり起きてこられるように記憶します。
このエリアには一級の観光地があるわけでもないので、慌てて見て回らなくてもよいからなのか、はたまた霧笛混じりの雨音を子守唄に二度寝するからなのか、皆さんスッキリ目覚めた面持ちで、慌てるでもなくゆっくりダイニングに降りてこられます。
住んでみると分かるんですが、特に激しい雨の日には、船の汽笛がよく聞こえます。まさに霧笛なんでしょうね。
そんな宿の外から聞こえる音を布団の中で静かに聞きながら、起き上がらずにじっとしている朝のひとときが、至福の時間だったりします。他ではなかなか味わうことのできない海峡で迎える雨の朝、今の騒動が落ち着いたら、一度体験してみませんか？
