What a lovely lady you are!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We keep having hot day in Fukuoka pref. Japan. Yesterday, this year’s first midsummer day in Japan seemed to be recorded in Kurume, a southern town in Fukuoka.

Temperature over 30 degree C or that of midsummer day means that we are already in extremely hot summer.

In such hot days, good news was that my parents finished their second shots of COVID-19 vaccination.

But the vaccination is also very hot in this town, Kitakyushu!

It surprised us very much that a news about the hardness to make reservation for vaccination in Kitakyushu.

Suddenly I heard the voice of Kitakyushu dialect from TV. “Don’t you feel sorry for letting so many senior citizens make line in front of city hole every day?”

I think that many other senior people want to get her back, when they were watching the news.

It must be terrible that only 4 people out of bunch of people who made line the day, mustn’t it? If the trouble happens this week, many senior people must get heat shock.

When I support my parents to make reservation, I had no problem and everything was very smooth. So I admired office of Kitakyushu very much. But it seems that the trouble happened after that.

It was so close as usual. If they studied OMOTENASHI hospitality, that trouble might not happened.

大好きです、北九州のオバちゃん！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

暑い日が続いています福岡県。南の久留米では全国初の真夏日が記録されたようです。

この時期で、３０度超えとか、真夏日なんて、すでに酷暑でしょう。

暑い中でも最近良かったことは、自分の両親の二回目のワクチン接種が終わったこと。

ただ、そのワクチン接種でも熱いのが、この北九州市！

全国版のニュースにわが町のワクチン予約の困難さが報道されたのには驚きました。

突然テレビからチャキチャキの北九州弁。「毎日毎日あんた年寄りにこんな並ばして、あんた心が痛くないんかね？」

きっと市内では「言っちゃり、言っちゃり」とオバちゃんにエールを送った高齢者も多かったのではないでしょうか。

大勢が並んで、予約できたのがたったの４人はちょっと不味いでしょう。今週なら熱中症で倒れた人もいたかも。

両親の予約や接種に接して、一度目の接種時に二度目の予約が出来てスムーズで、当初は北九州市やるじゃんと思ってたのに、、、

いつもながらに「惜しいっ！」わが町でした。 すこし「おもてなし」を勉強する方が良いのかもね。

それでは、事例やマニュアルのない時は、想像力を働かせて相手の気持になって素敵な一日を！

ふたたび / Again

Again

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The local place where has been most focused in Japan since last weekend is HERE, the city of Kitakyushu.

Our port town I looked around yesterday on the way back from bank became very quiet again.

There have been negative comments and pessimistic reports about Kitakyushu, but I could keep positive thinking for this town. Because I understand that this situation can be happen at anywhere in Japan or world after I read articles of various mass medias and checked reports and statements from this local government.
It’s just that the problem surfaced in this city.

Same time I start having good and reliable feeling to this local government and mayor who is tackling with the 2nd wave of infection. (Honestly speaking, my impression about them was rich but no practical business sense.) However I even feel safe and easy that we will be able to go through this dangerous situation soon, with seeing serious and timely action of health and hygiene department and quite honest attitude of the mayor during press conference.

By the way, we do request again ACCEPTABLE INSPECTION SYSTEM to global standard for COVID-19 and grasp whole picture of infection in this town. (Though tourism department once reject our proposal.)

It seems that Japanese government is considering to obligate PCR inspection to all foreigners who will visit Japan. I think that it is nonsense because there is no Japanese who can tell whether positive or negative against COVID-19 we are. It is quite shameful idea as a civilized nation.

ふたたび

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

先週末あたりから、日本全国の中でも一番注目されている地方都市、、、それがここ北九州です。

昨日、銀行の帰りに見た港町は、息をひそめた状態に戻っていました。

悲観的・否定的なコメントも聞かれるさなか、意外と自分はポジティブな思考を保てています。各メディアの報道を色々チェックし、自治体の発表も確認して、その結果、今起こっていることは国内、世界中どこでも起こりうる現象だと理解できたからです。ただこの街で表面化しただけのことです。

同時に今回、第二波に対峙する首長や自治体の真摯な姿勢には好感や信頼すら感じています。（正直なところ、以前はお金はあるが、現場感覚は薄い役所だと悲観していました。）今回、感染拡大というネガティブな課題に真面目に取り組んでいる保健衛生の担当部署や、愚直すぎるようにも感じる会見時の市長の姿勢に、不思議と早期に危機脱却できるだろうと安心感を持ちました。

こうした現状も踏まえて、当宿としては、あらためて市内・国内、広範囲の検査・拡充を訴えます。（観光局経由の要請は却下されましたが）
噂では日本政府は今後入国してくる外国人に出国前検査を義務付ける検討をしているようです。けれども自分たちの陰陽すら分からない状態で、まったくの戯言です。先進国家にあらざる恥ずべき感性としか思えません。

それでは、たとえコロナを避けられなくてもポジティブで素敵な一日を！

えっ！もう１０日？/ Oops! It ’s already the 10th day of new year?

Oops! It ’s already the 10th of new year?

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As of yesterday, It ’s already the 10th of new year. Time flew. 10 days went by so fast, didn’t they?

On January 10th every year, we have very Japanese event, “TOUKA* EBISU” (*It is not the name of this guesthouse.) So I took a look at the event on the way to shopping.

The event is a kind of walking parade by GEISHA style ladies and music team playing Japanese sounds. They walk around the town, praying “business success” for sponsor shops and facilities. Their walking route is limited in the downtown and they never come to out town. So I pray at the city hall for safety and success of this guesthouse and our guests, as I heard they stop at the hall.

By the way, I remember one topic about the city government. One picture become a hot topic among our close people. It is a news picture of TV news of beginning of this week. Management staffs were on the picture. People surprised at:

* Too many elder general managers (no young face can be seen)
* Too less female general managers
They are completely not like ordinal private enterprises

Can their citizens expect new improvement or drastic/positive change in municipal government during this year?

Going back to the subject, please enjoy white castle and Japanese beauties, this city is proud of. And please forget about the faces in local government.

For the business success, YOI YOI YEAH*! To be strong in label as the city of worst population loss in statistical data, YOI YOI YEAH*! (*Call-out/Chant of the event)

Thank you and you have a nice day, being strong in municipal government derby match* in FUKUOKA.

(It was announced yesterday that football team of our city “Giravantz Kitakyushu” will fight with “Avispa Fukuoka” of Fukuoka city. Both cities locates in same Fukuoka pref. As long as performance of our city is better than that of Fukuoka city, we are OK even if Giravantz will be defeated by Avispa. Because Fukuoka city has been the title holder of best growing city in Japan and Kitakyushu city has been the title holder of worst shrinking city in Japan.)

えっ！もう１０日？」

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

新年が明けて昨日で 灯火、いえ十日です。十日経つのってあっという間ですね。

１月１０日といえば、北九州では「十日恵比寿」という和テイストなイベントが見どころです。お買い物ついでに見学してきました。

この街ではあまり見かけない芸者姿、、、とても違和感があって目立ちます。そんな一行が街を練り歩いてスポンサーのお店・施設で商売繁盛を祈願するという趣向です。ルートは繁華街限定なので、当宿の方まで来ることはありません。というわけで、一行が公の施設「市役所」参りをするのに併せて、当宿とゲストのみなさんの「安全と繁盛」も祈願してきました。

ところで、市役所といえば、、、週初めに流れた報道画像が身近な人達の間で話題になっています。年始の役所幹部を集めた年始挨拶の際の様子ですが、驚くべきは、、、

民間企業に負けないほど、
＊センスが光る女性幹部が多くみられる
＊幹部スタッフに男女問わず若手精鋭が多くみられる

令和二年の市政に新しい風・斬新な取り組みによるＶ字回復が期待できそうですね。

というわけで、気を取り直して、添付画像の後半は この街の誇る「お城」と「和の美しさ」とで気分を浄化下さい。
