Another Aspect of the PEACE!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Today is the 74th Memorial Defeated Day in Japan.
It is the day we think about the peace again.
In this summer, we have many repeater guests in this guesthouse. Some of them are from the country which didn’t declare the end of war yet. What happens in such country, still in war situation. One of the important thing is “Conscription”. All of young boys in the country have to put themselves in military service for about two years.
This summer, we had a guest who stayed here just before and just after his military service. We really appreciate it. We sometimes hear that some of young people had serious injury during the service. So we were happy to have him back here healthy and safe.
It is interesting that we are getting well know about conscription system in their country by getting information from our guests. A few days ago, we talked with one guest from the country, who is a mother of one young boy. We enjoyed talking about the conscription system which we heard from other guests. She was surprised us very much, because we knew how to avoid “military” service. And we felt real feeling of mother who is worrying about her sons going into the military for even two years.
In this country, Japan, we don’t need to send our son to military service forcibly. Today may be a good opportunity to think about peace without “Conscription”.

もうひとつの平和！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
日本は今日、74年目の敗戦記念日を迎えました。
あらためて平和の大切さを考える日です。
この夏、当宿にはたくさんのリピーターゲストさん達にご利用いただいています。終戦を迎えていない国からのリピーターゲストさんもいらっしゃいます。終戦を迎えていないと何が起こるかというと、一番影響があるのが兵役です。若い男子が二年もの間兵役につかなければならないのです。
そんな大変な兵役の前と後、繰り返して当宿をご利用いただいたゲストさんがいらっしゃいました。本当にありがたいことです。中には兵役の間に大きな怪我をされる人もいるらしく、彼が無事に兵役を終えられたこと、とても嬉しく思います。
面白いもので、そんな彼らから日本にはない兵役のことを色々聞いていると結構詳しくなってきました。先日年頃の息子さんをもつ母親が利用された際には、以前のゲストに聞いた兵役を回避する方法で盛り上がり、そんな話を知らなかった彼女にとても感心されてしまいました。二年間とはいえ、軍隊に大切な息子を送り出す不安を実際に感じた瞬間でした。。
強制的に子供を兵役に送り出さずに済んでいる我が国にっぽん、そんな角度から平和の大切さを考えるのも悪くないと思います。
