Be really careful in winter!

The big fire happened near this guesthouse Thursday morning was extinguished without critical damage to other houses by fire spread.

There was no big affect to this guesthouse on Thursday but internet was down on Friday.

I traced the optical cable and found out it goes just in front of the burned out house.

Cable film is melted down there. Around the house, a street lamp and rain gutter of the house in the other side was melted. Lot number display is also charred.

I asked the recovery plan of internet by phone and she answered that it may take whole 3days holidays or a whole week. She also taught me that our guesthouse is not only affected information trouble caused by the fire.

So let us make our guest informed of our internet down condition. Thank you for your understanding of our situation in advance.

We were relieved with seeing no fire spread to this guesthouse at first, but now we realized the fear and impact of fire and that some of them are invisible.

So please please be really careful with the fire.

冬はほんとにご用心！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

木曜朝に「灯火」の近所で起きた大きな火事。
風が弱かったこともあって、町内に延焼することなく鎮火しました。

当宿でも大きな影響なく、胸をなでおろしたのですが、金曜日になってネットの回線がダウンしてしまいました。

光回線の電線を辿っていくと、火災現場の前を通る様になっていて、そこで被膜が溶け落ちている状態でした。

現場周辺では、私道をはさんで向かいの街灯や家の雨樋も溶け落ちている状態で、地番表示までもが真っ黒です。

電話で回線の復旧を確認したところ、影響はこの地区いたるところに及んでいて、修復は連休明け、もしかすると一週間程度かかるかもしれないとのことでした。

という理由で、当宿からのインターネットによる連絡等が遅れることになる可能性がありますことを事前にお伝えし、ご理解・ご了承のほどどうぞよろしくお願いします。

延焼は最小限で済んだようでホッとしましたが、実は目には見えない被害は大きく、火災の怖さ・影響を再認識しました。

My human crossroads – incident in my memory

It is late October now.

Even in this country, every downtowns are decorated with orange color this time of year. This town is also no exception.

We heard that Shibuya, young people’s town in Tokyo, is requesting them not to have crazy Halloween party on the streets this year.

Every year late October, I always remember sad incident happened on the day of Halloween.

Do you remember the name, Rodney Peairs?

A Japanese high school student, who stayed in the U.S. 1992, as and exchange student, got shot by him, the resident of the house, on the day of Halloween, as the result of the student’s visiting wrong house for attending a party. It is way before Halloween got popular in Japan and Oct.31 in Shibuya was more quiet than recent 15 years.

Because of the incident, I was taught about Halloween, before I dispatched to the U.S. 1995.

If there is no such incident, the high school boy must be 44 years old this year.

I often wonder how his parents feel about the whoopee in Japan, customized/imported from foreign custom which was the trigger of sad incident.

There are quite few opportunity to be killed by guns but we wish young people to behave in a moderate way on Oct.31, considering about prevention of COVID-19 infection.

マイ・事件の涙 〜 その後の気になる事件

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

１０月も終盤です。

この時期になると、この町でも繁華街はオレンジ色のデコレーションでいっぱいになるようです。

今年、渋谷ではお祭り騒ぎが自粛されるようですが、この時期になると思い出す事件があります。

ロドニー・ピアーズ、、、この名前を覚えている方はいらっしゃるでしょうか？

アメリカに留学中だった高校生がパーティの家を間違えた結果、住人である彼に射殺されてしまった事件です。
渋谷の１０月３１日がまだ静かだった頃の話です。

自分はアメリカに赴任する３年前の事件だったこともあり、事件のせいなのか赴任直前にハロウィンの行事について学んだ記憶があります。

もしこの事件がなかったら、あの高校生は今はきっと働き盛りの４４歳。

事件のきっかけでもある海外から借りてきたお祭り騒ぎに、ご両親はどう感じているんでしょう？この時期いつもそんなことを考えてしまいます。

この国では銃で打たれることはまずありえませんが、感染リスクも考慮して、節度あるお祭りを心がけてほしいですね。

貴重な経験、プライスレス！/ Priceless!

Priceless!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I have thought that there are generations whom I cannot communicate in general. For example, I communicate with my generation, my parents’ generation and my child’s generation, but I can rarely communicate with other generations.

Now our guests who stay in this summer are quite younger than my daughter. And I appreciate with the chance to talk about / exchange mutual sense of values.

The common sense of lifestyle in my generation is no longer common in their generation. And our criteria of good/bad sense is quite different from theirs.

Their idea sometimes make me feel nervous, but I could feel intuitively that the works they have produced are very cool.

In this weekend, I could think that their way of living can be much more suitable to the world after/with COVID-19.

貴重な経験、プライスレス！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

世の中にはあまり接することのない世代というのがあるようで、自分の年齢の前後、親世代、子世代、以外の世代とは学校の先生でもない限り、なかなか話す機会を持つことはないように感じます。

ところが、今当宿を利用いただくゲストは自分の娘よりも一回りも若くて、そんな彼らとお互いの価値観を交換／交歓できる機会にとても感謝しています。

自分の世代の人生の進路の当たり前は、彼らにとってはそんなことはなくて、センスの良し悪しの基準も随分と様変わりしたことを教えてもらっています。

ハラハラさせられる部分もありながら、彼らの作ったものを実際に見せてもらうと、たしかに「センス良い」んです。

この週末、アフター・コロナ、ウィズ・コロナの時代には、彼らの「ものさし」の方が適合（あって）いるのかもなぁと実感しました。
