I kept thinking him looked familiar!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
At the international film festival held in this town last weekend, I have kept thinking him on the stage looked familiar.
I found him and the film festival on yesterday’s TV news of 9pm and I realized
that he is Mr. Kitazumi, the journalist who was detained by Myanmar military dictatorship and released in May this year.

It seems that he is appealing to the people what is happening in Myanmar now and the director still detained by supporting his film promotion.
The film was described as Japanese movie on Festival’s Homepage and no explanation about the director. So I missed watching the film in the film festival.
If any explanation was provided in advance, I might buy the ticket. It was so disappointing.
But it was lucky that I had a chance to see the speech of director’s brother who received the award on behalf of the director and Mr. Kitazumi on the stage of awards ceremony.
Actually there were many excellent films on the screen during the festival, such as Philippine short movie filmed by our guest, which describe the dark side of the country with the scenes of dirty slums and the poor. So I do hope that the film festival will be held in this town next year and for many years.

どこかで見たことがあると思ったら！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
週末にこの町で開催された国際映画祭、壇上に上がったある人をどこかで見た人だと思っていたら、、、
昨日の９時のニュースで、映画祭とともに紹介されていて、やっと気付きました。
ミャンマーの軍事政権に拘束された日本人と今年の５月報道されていた人、北角氏でした。

映画祭に出品されたミャンマー人監督の作品を通じて、今なお拘束され続けている監督のこと、ミャンマーの現状のことを訴えているそうです。
映画祭のプログラムには日本映画と記載されていたのと、監督の拘束について事前になにも説明がなかったので作品を見る機会は逃してしまいました。
事前の解説が少しでもあれば、見たのになぁと残念に思いました。
授賞の壇上で、代わりに受賞された監督の弟と北角氏の話を聞いてミャンマーの状況を少しだけでも聞けたのが幸いでした。
実のところ、ミャンマーのことだけでなく、当宿に滞在したゲストさんがカメラマンとして参加したフィリピンのスラム・貧困生活を映し出した作品など、なかなかの秀作揃いだったこの映画祭、、、来年も、そしてこれからもずっとこの町で開催してほしいと願います。

P.S. それにしても、、、NHKもNHK！こうした（全国版で報道するような）社会的に意味のあるステージトークのあるイベントが行われることが分かってるなら、先週の段階で地方版ニュースでも広報すればいいのになぁと率直に思いました。何のための北九州放送局だか？？
