Deep in melancholic mood!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
On Tuesday, with cold rain,
Guest said that he will visit Hiroshima and come back late.
So I decided to go to watch memorial screenings of the actor who passed away last month.
In spite of short notice and weekday event, there were full of people in the theater.
Most of them are aged people and some have difficulty walk up/down the stairs to/from their seats. There also was a accident one of them fall down making big sound. The situation was miniature of the city and made me remind the old actress playing mother of main character of the movie.
The movie seemed to be played twice that day and I saw the first play, thinking of our guest’s coming back to the guesthouse. Between two plays, memorial ceremony for the actor was held by the lady owner of the theater. The theater was one of the locations of the movie, she was model of one character and she played as an extra in the movie. So audiences can see her strong passion about this movie and the actor. She also showed us special moving picture of him owned by the theater. I think it was really good ceremony.
So many TV cameras in the theater made us understand strong interest as the city which want to be Japanese Hollywood.
About the movie “Goodbye Elegy” itself, there was both bad and good reputation. But I could see many interesting scene, shot and location from the resident’s point of view. I will report them later in different article.
This time, I visited the theater to participate in his memorial event, but I also recognized the value of the theater “SHOWA-KAN”. I believe it is better legacy than both Mojiko Retro and World heritages of the buildings in Meiji era. We could really feel retro and melancholic air in the theater.
I visited again this time after decades of blank. I want to recommend people who never visit there and who haven’t be there for long time to visit the theater. The actor’s playing movies will be played in the middle of May.

想いと空気に浸る！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
冷たい雨の火曜日、、、
前述したとおり、お隣の県内一円で開催中の人気アニメのミステリーツアーのイベントに出かけたゲストのお戻りが遅くなるとのことだったので、、、
行ってきました「名優を偲ぶ特別上映会」！
短時間の告知、平日の開催にもかかわらず、館内は観客でいっぱい。
その殆どはお年寄りで、多くは客席の階段昇降もおぼつかないほど、上段席では大きな音を立てて転倒される方もいたり主催者がおろおろするほどでした。どちらを向いてもお年寄りの、当市の縮図のような館内で、作品内、主人公の母役を演じていた佐々木すみ江さんを彷彿させられました。
作品は２度上映されたようで、自分はゲストの宿へのお戻りも考慮して初回を鑑賞。幕間には「大杉漣さんを偲ぶ会」も催されました。作品ストーリーの伏線となっている映画館であり、脇役を超える配役でエキストラ出演されていた「館主の想い」の詰まった会でした。館秘蔵・門外不出の舞台挨拶画像も偲ぶ想いをさらに膨らませ、とても感慨深く・気付きも多いイベントでした。
当日、館内にはマスコミのカメラもたくさん入っていて、日本のハリウッド（？）北九州の関心の高さを体感することができました。
遺作となった作品「グッバイエレジー」について、評価は賛否分かれているようですが、自分としては興味深い部分が随所にあり、そのことは後日あらためて記事にしたいと思います。
今回、追悼イベントで利用しましたが、明治の産業遺産よりも、門司港「レトロ」よりも、レトロと哀愁とに浸れる空間、小倉「昭和館」、大切にしたい昭和遺産だと再認識しました。
利用したことのない方、自分のようにウン十年前に利用して以来行っていない方、是非足をお運びください。５月中旬には大杉漣さんの追悼特集上映キャンペーンも開催されるそうです。
