New Year in Kitakyushu!

Lately, I really feel time flies. and I realized that it is already new year yesterday.

Yes, New Year!

I did recognized that it is really New Year, when I got a share of speciality food in this town.

This is winter taste of our hometown, Kitakyushu. Because of COVID-19 pandemic, please enjoy this by back-order of hometown tax donation program.

北九州のお正月

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

最近つくづく時間が経つのは早いなぁと感じていて、昨日も気が付いたら年が変わっていました。

お正月です！

おすそ分けをもらって、お正月を実感しました。

White pretty flowers are fully blooming

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Let us recommend you another fine spot to visit in this time of a year.

The karst plateau we introduced yesterday is very popular spot here, because small kids visit there on their field trips. But this was the fist place for me to visit.

It is definitely a nice place. The name of the place is TOKAKUJI. White flowers are buckwheat flowers, of course.

However, this is not “TOGAKUSHI” in Shinshu area.

This is a small mountain village in our neighbor town.

We can enjoy fully blooming buckwheat flowers planted terraced rice-fields, which are rare to see around here.

I could enjoy relaxed time at superb view cafe drinking fine tea served by a kind owner during she was closing the shop.

I will be back there again in harvesting time of buckwheat.

Now we have new information of place to go in autumn for our guests.

可憐な白い花が満開です

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この時期おすすめのスポットをもう一つ。

前の記事で紹介したカルスト台地は、この周辺の子供たちが遠足でも行くようなメジャーなスポットですが、こちらは自分も初めて訪れたスポットです。

とにかく良いところです。その名も「とかくじ」。白い花はもちろん蕎麦の花です。

でも、こちら信州の「とがくし」ではありません。

隣町にある山間の集落です。

このあたりでは珍しい棚田に咲きほこる白い花を満喫することができます。

店仕舞いを始めているのに美味しいお茶を出してくれた絶景のカフェから、棚田と遠くの町並みと豊前の海を眺めてしばしぼんやり。

新蕎麦の収穫の頃にまた訪れたい素敵な場所でした。

地産地消 / Local production for local consumption

Local production for local consumption

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I heard that there are two “day of the ox＊ in midsummer” 2020. . The first one was July 21 and later one will be this weekend, August 2.
(*In Japan, we have our original/traditional calendar with animal title. The day is normally one day in summer.)

Could you enjoy the taste of the ox day?

It was not on the first ox day, we could also enjoy the day’s special food.

UNAGI (eel) made in Kitakyushu.

Friend of my parents gives us the local produced eel. And the taste of local one is very good.

It is my personal opinion but I think that it is a hidden speciality of this town, Kitakyushu.

We are not sure where we can buy them or how they distribute, but we want many people to try it.

地産地消

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

聞いた話では、今年2020年の夏には土用丑の日が二度あるようで、一の丑は先週7月21日、二の丑は今週末8月2日だそうです。

で、みなさん土用丑の日の味は満喫されたでしょうか？

一の丑にはすこし遅れましたが、今年も美味しくいただくことが出来ました。

それも地元、北九州産のうなぎを、、、

親の代のお付き合いがあって、地元産をいただくのですが、これがとても美味しいんです。

あくまで個人の意見ですが、ガイドブックにも地域紙にも載らない地元北九州の隠れた銘品だと思います。

一般的にはどこで入手できるのか、どのお店が北九州産を扱っているのか存じませんが、一度みんなに食べてもらいたいです。
