Our town is located in the area which is proud of the highest rate of moving out population. So the shopping arcade in this town is full of shuttered shops. Main use of their shutters are as big posting board, as you can imagine.
Among many posters, there is an interesting yellow one.
It is the poster of Zen picture exhibition of Zen monk Sengai.
Sengai -san was the professional of how to enjoy life after retirement. Following the philosophy of Zen, he lived wonderful 25 years of his life after retirement and had left many Zen pictures which tell various ideas of Zen uniquely and simply. No matter how serious the person think about life, his drawings inspired us into the world of Zen.
Please go and watch his drawings if you want to make your remaining life more wonderful than the life thus far.

*Note: Exhibition is 2nd floor and only 36 items this time. If you want to touch his world deeper, please come and stay in our guesthouse TOUKA. We have book of his art we bought at the time of “The Grand Sengai Exhibition – Spirit of Zen Assembled” at Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Tokyo. It is a printed art book but have 132 of his works. And we bet you will get many findings in the book.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
人口流出全国ワーストを誇るエリアのアーケード街はもちろんシャッター通り、シャッターの使われ方は、、、やっぱりポスター等の掲示板！
そんなポスターの中に、気になる黄色いものが掲示されていました。
それが、仙厓（和尚）さんの禅画展。
仙厓さんは老後の生き方・考え方の達人です。隠居後の25年もの期間を禅の教えに沿って豊かに暮らした仙厓さんの絵は、禅の教えが非常にわかいやすく描き込まれていて、見る側の準備の程度にかかわらず心に響く感動を与えてくれるありがたいものです。
半生よりも、余生を豊かにしたいと考える人は一度ご覧になられることをお薦めします。
