Taste of good old days, guests of good old days!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

COVID-19 pandemic and the State of Emergency are still active in Japan,  furthermore extending it now.

It seems to taking more time for us to have guests from various countries like used to be.

So we cooked an authentic dish which was cooked together with our guests by their recipe, remembering fun time with them.

Of course, dumpling skins were also hand made, not from supermarket.

The original recipe was boiled dumplings, but we changed only very last process of cooking and made pan fried dumplings.

We were worried that sick and chewy dough might not match for pan fry but result taste was fantastic! We all enjoyed eating them.

Now we have another Guesthouse cooking gourmet on our list without having new guests from foreign countries.

懐かしい味、懐かしいゲスト！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

コロナ禍に、緊急事態宣言、、、そしてさらなる期間延長！

まだまだ以前のように海外からのゲストさんがいらっしゃるようになるまでには時間がかかりそうです。

というわけで、かつて一緒に作り、レシピを実体験させてくれたゲストのことを思い出しながら作ってみました。

もちろん本場皮からの手作りです。

教えてもらったのは「水餃子」でしたが、同じ工程で最後だけ「焼き」にしてみました。

皮の厚みとコシとがどうかと心配しましたが、結果は驚きの味！みんなで美味しくいただきました。

新たな海外からのゲストはありませんが、当宿のゲストハウスめしがひとつ増えました。

それでは、本格にアレンジをちょっと加えて多様性を楽しむ素敵な一日を！

Our hidden assets

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

During COVID-19 pandemic that requires us self-restraint from various actions, we have been working on finding Japanese hidden assets.

For example, view of rice field. I love it very much but…

Because the landscape too familiar to us, most of Japanese people don’t notice the beauty of the view. However such landscape cannot be seen in western countries.

On the contrary, there are place in the world, like Ubud in Indonesia which utilize such agricultural landscape for their tourism.

Unfortunately, there are only few facility like Lovers Hotels which utilize the rice field.

Even more unfortunately, such hotels don’t have windows to see the view and their guests don’t expect such VIEW during their stay.

Whenever we find such hidden assets, we think about the way to maximize the value of assets.

まだ気付いていない資産

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

あらゆる行動の自粛が求められているコロナ禍にあって、積極的に取り組んでいるのが、日本人の気付いていない隠れた資産探しです。

例えば、稲作の田園風景。自分はとても好きなのですが、、、

我々にはあまりにも見慣れた風景なので、その美しさに気付いていない場合が多いのですが、こうした風景は欧米諸国ではあまり見かけません。

反対に東南アジアではバリ島のウブドのように、こうした田園風景を観光資源にして成功している事例もあります。

残念ながら、日本でこうした場所でビジネスをしているのは、ラブホテルぐらい。

さらに残念なことに、そうした宿泊施設には「窓」がなく、「風景」は求められていません。

そんな隠れたにっぽんの資産を見ると、有効に活用できないか考えてしまいます。

The lighting tip of the iceberg

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Tokyo 2020 Paralympics has just started.

Some people are talking about their feeling of strangeness about Paralympic under COVID-19 pandemic, but we hope all athletes from the world will make their best during the event.

Speaking of feeling of strangeness, we do have bigger one about the definition of para-handicapped athletes.

In the world of para-sports, I can’t help feeling that the athletes who are active in the event and focused by media tend to the handicapped people who used to be able-bodied people and mildly disabled people. Is it only me who feel so?

Just after contacting with the severely disabled people and their families on the day of Paralympic Opening Ceremony, my feeling of strangeness about Paralympic has become stronger.

I personally do hope the dark part of iceberg under the water will be also realized as well as the lighted tip of the iceberg. Without it, SDGs cannot happen on this earth.

And I do hope Paralympic will be the one of icebreakers of it.

氷山の明るい一角

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

東京パラリンピックが始まりました。

感染拡大下での開催については違和感等語られていますが、出場する世界各国のアスリートには全力を尽くしてほしいですね。

違和感といえば、パラリンピックについては、実のところ感染拡大よりも「障害者」の定義の方により大きな違和感を感じます。

パラスポーツの世界で活躍し、注目されるアスリートには、以前は健常者だった方や比較的運動や精神に障害程度の低い方が多いように感じるのは自分だけでしょうか？

開会式の当日に自分ひとりの力では日常生活するのにも困難な重度の障害を持つ方々やその家族に触れて、パラリンピックの影に見える違和感が強くなりました。

光があたって見えている氷山だけでなく、暗い水面下の部分にも光が当たるようになる世の中だと良いですね。それなしにはSDGsなんて語れないようにも感じます。

そしてそのきっかけのひとつがパラリンピックであってほしいと願います。
