Sunday’s debate show…it seems to raise an incredible number of issues.
In fact, there is one reason for the current rice riots that many Japanese people are unaware of, as the media has not given it much coverage.
I hadn’t even considered this correlation until I watched this debate program…
The moment I saw the diagram presented in the program, I realized it.
According to the chart, rice production supply fell into negative territory relative to consumption demand in 2023.
In that 2023, a policy was implemented to distribute 25 kg of rice free of charge to 1.7 million households.
It is none other than the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, who implemented this measure.
1.7 million households is more than the total number of households in Osaka City.

And the rice they served was of very good quality.
If the rice supply and demand correlation chart shown on the program had been widely known in Japan by 2023, this measure might not have been implemented.
In that sense, I really feel that the data released by government ministries and agencies has a huge impact on society. (In other words, the current uproar arose because they couldn’t release accurate data back then!)
How ironic that Tokyo’s “measures to combat rising prices” might be the cause of rising rice prices across the country!
It’s hard to believe now, but it seems that many people who didn’t need the rice they were given were reselling 5kg of it online for around 1,000 yen. It was only about two years ago.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
日曜の討論番組、、、信じられないぐらい多くの問題提起を含んでいるようです。
実はマスコミもそれほど大きく取り上げてこなかったために、日本人の多くが知らない今回の米騒動の一因があるんです。
自分もこの討論番組を見るまでは、その相関関係に思いが及ばなかったのですが、、、
番組の中で紹介された図を見た瞬間、あれ？！って。
その図によると、米の消費需要に対して生産供給がマイナスに落ち込んだのが2023年。
その2023年に170万世帯もの家庭に米をタダで25kgづつ配る施策が実施されていたんです。
その施策、実施したのは、他でもない東京都！
170万世帯というと、大阪市の全世帯数よりも多い規模です。

そして提供されたのは、なかなかの良質のお米です。
もし番組で紹介された米の需給相関図が2023年時点に国内で周知されていたら、この施策は実現しなかったかもしれません。
そういう意味で言うと、省庁・官庁の出すデータが社会に及ぼす影響って大きいことを実感します。（つまり当時、正しいデータを出せなかったから、今みたいな騒動になってしまった！）
東京の「物価高騰対策支援」の施策が、全国のお米の価格の高騰の原因を作ったかもしれないって、、、なんて皮肉な話でしょう！
今となっては信じられませんが、配布されたお米が不要だからと5kgを1,000円程度でネットで転売していた人も少なくないようです。それもほんの二年ほど前に起きていた話です。
