The only one in Kyushu!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Wow! One local news surprised me a lot. It was about taboo area of this city.

Even it was close to the station, that block had been unapproachable area, when I was a student. (Because it was a sex district of the town). The news is about one theater which is struggling in the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the new, the shop is the last and only one shop of the strip industry in Kyushu area.

After I came back to this town, I walked into the block to visit one IZAKAYA (Japanese style bar). It was my first time in my life. The IZAKAYA locates in front of the strip theater, the centerpiece of the district, The news told that the theater is spending hard time to survive in pandemic without any public financial supports.

Since our main bank closed the branch in our port town, I drove to the other branch in Kokura. On the way to the bank, I have sometimes been curious about how the shops which are in the block, west side of the street, are doing in pandemic. So the news was very interesting.

At any rate, I do admire NHK Kitakyushu branch who focused on the theater. It was very aggressive news topic, not like conservative NHK.

The news made me want to go to the theater, because it is the very last theater in Kyushu. But I abandon to do so because of the pandemic.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

おぉっとぉ！禁断の場所が地元発ローカルニュースの画面から飛び出してきてビックリしました。

中高生時代には近寄り難い繁華街の一角、その中のとある劇場がコロナ禍にもまれる状況が取り上げられていました。

ニュースによれば、その同業では九州唯一・最後の一店だそうです。

Ｕターンしてきてから、気になる居酒屋があったことで、恐る恐る初めて踏み入れた町のその一角。その中の中心的存在の劇場が公的支援のないなかで奮闘している姿が取材されていました。

港町の行きつけの銀行が閉鎖して以来、毎月小倉の支店に行くようになって、紫川さくら通りを車で抜ける度に、東側一帯の各店舗はコロナ禍でどうしているんだろうと気にはなっていたので、とても興味深い内容でした。

それにしても、コロナ禍とはいえ、この業界・この劇場に焦点を当てるなんて、北九州支局、かの協会らしからぬエッジの効いた取り組みをしてるなぁと感心しました。
（是非とも、その西側一帯にあるお店のコロナ禍も取材してほしいですね。）

ニュースを見て、その最後の劇場に一度は行ってみたくなりましたが、まことに残念ながら感染拡大の最中につき諦めることにしました。

What an artistic hometown this is!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

When I drove this town for the business to close the month of May, I found that on-board TV were shining my familiar blue.

”NIPPON Impressionism – Active Blue of the Strait” NHK

This was a well-produced program and I felt like I want to visit and see the view, even though the scene is my familiar views.
And I drove to the seaside actually.

We do want people who say this town is their hometown to see this program.
As a matter of fact. I had already seen this program before. However there wasn’t missed-program webcast at that time. But now we have it. So we share the information about the program.

If you are interested in feeling as Ryotaro Shiba, the most famous historical novel writer in Japan, at this strait, please stay at this guesthouse.

There have really been such travelers like Ryotaro Shiba, who spent too much time to stare blankly at ships through the strait and depart much later than their planned check-out time.

P.S. By the way, a ship appears at 19:45 in the program must be the ship made big accident near Kurushima strait last week. As I have kept watching strait and ships go through it, I might get the ability to make a good guess about ships.

なんて芸術的なふるさとなんでしょう！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

月替りの対応の所用で町を流していると、車載テレビが馴染みのある青色に光っていることに気付きました。

この番組、とても良く（美しく）出来ていて、いつも見ている景色なのに、見に行ってみたくなる風景に撮れてると感じてしまいました。
で、実際につい海辺まで行ってしまいました。

この町・関門エリアがふるさと、っていう人に是非一度見てもらいたい番組です。
実は、以前、見たことのある番組の再放送なんですが、当時はネットの見逃し配信などありません。そんな便利なものがある今だからこの再放送のタイミングで紹介させていただきました。

司馬遼太郎がこの海峡を見て感じた気分を味わいたい方は是非当宿にいらしてください。

客室から見る海峡や船の様子にハマってしまい、チェックアウトが予定より遅くなってしまうゲストさん、冗談抜きで少なからずいらっしゃいます。

P.S. ところで、番組の19:45のところで出てくる船ですが、、、たぶんコレって最近、来島海峡での大きな衝突事故がニュースになった船の片方です。

不思議なもので、毎日何隻も船を見ていると、どんな船がどんな形がパッと見て分かる・思い出せるようになってきました。

Worrying about near future with the real information!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As we keep managing guesthouse, we keep getting new information from various people.

Several days ago, we had a chance to talk with young guy who did finish vaccination twice already.

Of course, he didn’t get the shots in Japan. He got in the U.S. It seems that U.S. stand on more advanced stage in prevention.

But what we concerned about was not progress of vaccination, but people’s behavior after finishing vaccination.

He said that most of Americans who finished two shots no longer wear face mask any more. I do understand it from my experience living in the U.S. Because they are the citizen of “The land of the Free”.

Looking back on Japan, we are going to invite bunch of people from all over the world soon. Even we prepared vaccination for the people who will come. (It is the big tragedy that we, general Japanese citizen, have no schedule to be vaccinated in this year.)

We don’t say that athletes has poor crisis management ability but there are not so many athletes who are too sensitive to public sanitation and disease epidemiology. We can imagine that people who gain a sense of security from vaccination and excitement from the selection as as Olympian may enjoy themselves too much. It can be possible that athletes make close contact with each other.

Even if a few infection will happened in Olympic facility, does Japan has the power to proceed active epidemiological investigation against world famous athletes with using multiple languages?

We do wish that Tokyo (Japan) Olympic will not be evaluated as ”the most miserable sports event in human history” after coming Summer.
Yes, today is the start day of extending period of state of emergency.

自ら得た情報から明日を憂う

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

宿泊施設を運営していると色々な人から新しい情報をいただきます。

このあいだワクチン接種を二回完了した二十代の若者と話をする機会がありました。

もちろん接種は日本ではなくアメリカです。やはり日本と比べずいぶん進んでいるようです。

けれど、接種の進捗格差よりも気がかりなのは、接種完了後の国民の対応です。

アメリカでは二度ワクチン接種を終えた人はほとんどマスクを着用しなくなっているようです。自身のアメリカ生活経験からもそうしたアメリカ人の国民性は想像できます。なんたって「The land of the Free」の住人です。

対して日本。自国民へのワクチンの接種もままならない状況なのに、世界各国から大勢を呼び込もうとしています。それも来日する関係者にワクチン接種をお世話までして。

スポーツ選手の危機管理能力が低いとは言いませんが、公衆衛生的な感覚の高い人は決して多くないように思います。そんな彼らがワクチンを接種したことで得る安心感と大会にやってきた高揚感から羽目を外すことは想像できます。選手同士の濃厚接種も十分あり得るでしょう。

関係施設でたとえ数件でも感染が確認された時に、多言語を駆使し世界的な名プレイヤー達に対し疫学調査など行う力が、この国には果たしてあるでしょうか？
