Ideal future

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Now everybody in this world concerns about COVID-19.

To investigate latest global infection distribution, the most referenced information must be
“COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE)” at Johns Hopkins University

As the majority of our guests have been international guests, we have also referred this data very often.

When we looked at the map in the site, we found that it looks like something we are familiar with.

Yes, it really looks like the record/memory of our guests “where they came from” on our map.
(It is really similar, specially at the point, many pins on Asian countries but North Korea.)

Now we are looking at the distribution map from that view point, and we found every guests country is very difficult situation. Specially western countries, China and Korea. (Dear our guests: Let’s fight together!)

However when we looked it more carefully, we could found very important information about one particular country. It is transitive graph of infected people in Korea, our neighbor. In terms of infected numbers, Korea is #24 and Japan is #25, as of Apr.17. As usual, they are competing very hard again also in corona infection. But we can predict that Japan will have more number than Korea in a few days.

We guess that politicians in Japan want to have transitive graph shape like Korea’s but measures/approaches of both countries are quite different. (Unfortunately, shape of Japan is very similar to that of U.S.)

As an individual and one guesthouse manager, I do want Japanese government should learn from / communicate with Korea about how to tackle with the virus. It is obvious that battle of wills of both governments has made relationship worse. To fight with mutual enemy, COVID-19 together must be the great cause to re-establish good relationships between two countries and that will make real “future-oriented relationship”, mealy-mouthed phrase they have used. And I believe that it is not a shame that Japanese government start to approaching Korean government to learn the most effective measure against COVID-19.

目指す姿

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今、世界中の関心は、もちろん新型コロナウイルスの感染。

その感染分布について、一番参考にされているデータは、おそらくJohns Hopkins大学の
「COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE)」

海外からのゲストが大部分を占めてきた当宿「灯火」もこちらのサイトをよく参照させていただいています。

その中の地図を眺めていると、ふと「あれ？なにかに似ているな」と気付きました。

そうです。当宿をご利用いただいたゲストの皆さんの記録／記憶です。
（北朝鮮にピンがないところなんて、ウリ二つ！）

そういう目で感染の分布図をもう一度見ると、どのゲストのお国も大変なことになっています。特に欧米と中国・韓国。（ゲストの皆さん：一緒に戦いましょう！）

ところがさらによく見るとあることに気付かされます。お隣の国、韓国の感染者数推移グラフです。感染者数で見ると4月17日時点で韓国24位・日本25位と、ここでも激しく競り合っていますが、トレンドで見ると数日のうちに逆転して日本が上回るに違いありません。

おそらく日本の政治家たちは韓国のような推移の形に抑え込もうとしているのだろうと思いますが、アプローチはかなり違うようです。（残念なことに、むしろアメリカ型に似ている）

一個人・一宿主として言いたいのは、日本政府はもう意地など張らず、隣人同士仲良くしてコロナに対する効果的な対応策を習うのがよいのではないか、ということです。お互いの意地の張り合いが両国関係を悪くしているのは自明で、コロナを契機に「共通の敵」に立ち向かうという大義のもと、口先だけでない「未来志向の関係」築くのが理想だろうと断言します。結果として仲良くやっていくために、先に日本が歩み寄ったとしても決して恥ではありません。
