Today, the last day!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Since the beginning of the year, we have been reporting the attractions and problems/issues of the other side of the strait that we have been paying attention to and that we would like to focus on and recommend to our guests this year.
We visited the brand new accommodation facility that opened at the end of last year and has been the topic of this industry. I have actually stayed there and shared my honest impressions, as well as looked at the concept behind its expansion into this area and the aspirations of the local government that will be hosting it through its newsletter.
Throughout that time, I have always felt both “expectations” and “concerns.”
The local government’s strong expectations for the economic impact the new facility will have on the local area are painfully clear…
but, on the other hand, the supermarket nearest to the facility will be closing today as its last day of business.
There are also many other stores in the same area that have sadly closed or will be closed.

This experience made me realize once again how important timing is when it comes to regional revitalization.
Looking back at our own side of the strait, which plays a part in the area across the Kanmon Strait, what is happening on the other side is not something that concerns us.
Perhaps it is time to seriously consider about the SDGs for each individual business entity.

本日、最終日！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
年初より、当宿が注目し、今年焦点を当ててゲストさんにオススメしていこうと考えている対岸の魅力と問題・課題について話題にしてきました。
昨年末にオープンした業界注目の真新しい宿泊施設については、実際に利用してみて率直にその感想と合わせ、このエリア進出のコンセプトや受け入れる自治体の想いをその広報誌を通して見てきました。
その間ずっと感じてきたのが「期待」と「懸念」。
新しい施設の地域に及ぼす経済効果に期待する自治体の期待は痛いほど伝わってきましたが、、、
その一方で、こちらの新しい施設にもっとも近いスーパーマーケットは本日の営業を最後に閉店します。
その他にも、同じエリアにあって惜しまれながらなくなってしまう／しまった店舗は少なくありません。

地域創生はタイミングが本当に大事なんだなぁとあらためて感じさせられました。
と、ここで関門海峡を介して、エリアの一翼を担う自岸を振り返ると、対岸で起こっていることは他人事ではありません。
事業体個別のSDGsについて、真剣に考える時なのかもしれません。
