The Japanese secret weapon!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We have thought that this area, Kanmon, has been succeeded to escape from disaster.

But it seems to have fire disaster again. Everyone, please take care for man-made disasters too.

Speaking of man-made disasters, the worst one must be the war.

So I have tried to visit particular sightseeing spots where normal Japanese don’t visit.

That is “War Museum” of each town in the world.

It is very interesting for me, because I can get multifaceted perspective about modern history.
(* For example, in the near area, “T. Stell Newman Visitor Center” in Guam was very interesting. There have been too many Japanese visited Guam, but I don’t think they have visited the center. Honestly, I am curious about “Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders (侵華日軍南京大屠殺遭難同胞紀念館)” but I don’t think I will be able to visit there, because we may not be able to come back from that country.)

The most museums have made me think very seriously toward the war, but there are a few museum with high sense of humor.

I know human torpedo, balloon bomb, bamboo spear and so on. But I didn’t know this secret weapon.

“War (related) Museums” in Asia may be difficult spots for Japanese to visit, but I recommend to visit.

ザ・にっぽんの秘密兵器！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

関門エリア、この夏の自然災害からはなんとか免れていると思っていたら、、、

また火災だそうです。人災にも気をつけましょう。

人災といえば、その極みが戦争！

日本人がよく使う海外ツアーでは行かないところに自分はよく行くようにします。

それは各地の「戦争博物館」。

多角的に近代史に触れることができるのでとても興味深いです。
（*近いところでは、グアム島の T. Stell Newman Visitor Center。多分日本人は行かないと思うけど、結構興味深いです。今後、南京大虐殺紀念館にも行ってみたいけれど、今中国に行ったら色んな意味で帰ってこれなくなりそうですよね。）

深刻に考えさせられる博物館が多いなか、なかにはセンスの良い展示も。

人間魚雷、風船爆弾、竹やり以外にも、、、この秘密兵器は知りませんでした。

Stepping back to look at the big picture

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Since COVID-19 pandemic, I have been spending more time here, because of staying at home.

 

That made me think that the view from here are so beautiful. It is not bad having wide sky seen from the window.

To utilize the time staying at home, I keep stepping back to look at the big picture for various topics.

And I found:

1. Number of Death by COVID-19 in Japan is more than that in China, COVID-19’s country of origin.
Japan is the worst in east Asian (yellow race) countries.

8,255 deaths Japan
4,838 deaths China
1,634 deaths Korea, South

2. Many media in Japan focusing 10 years since East Japan Earthquake.
But death by COVID-19 in Japan is already more than death in Iwate by the earthquake. If we will have the forth wave of infection, total number of death can be more than that of East Japan Earthquake.

Death 15,899（by Earhquake and Tsunami as of 3/7/2020 ）
Miyagi 9,543人
Iwate 4,675人
Fukushima 1,614人
Other 67人

I was honestly surprised at the number of death, more than 8,200people.
Islands country should have advantage for epidemic prevention, but this is horrible situation, isn’t this?
Other east Asian countries are much better than Japan.
I wonder if this is Man-made disaster like Fukushima nuclear accident.

Is this country really OK?!

高い視座で俯瞰する

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大以来、ここ「灯火」にいて外出自粛することが多くなりました。

で、あらためてここからみる景色に感動しています。窓から見る空が広いって良いですね。
外出しなくなった分、出来た時間で物事を色々な角度で見るようにしています。

というわけで、気付いてしまいました。

○ コロナウイルスによる日本の死者数、発生国の中国よりも倍近く多いこと。
東アジア（黄色人種の国々）で最悪です。

○ 最近日本のメディアが「東日本大震災から１０年」と騒いでいますが、、、
既にコロナの死者は震災で亡くなった岩手＋福島の人数をはるかに越えています。
もし感染の第４波が来れば、感染の波の被害が津波被害より多くなること。

死者 15,899人（東日本大震災 2020年3月7日時点）
宮城県 9,543人
岩手県 4,675人
福島県 1,614人
その他 67人

死者8,200人越え、驚きです。島国は防疫上有利なのに、この惨憺たる状況。
他の東アジアの国々はずっと少数なのに、、、
もしかして、原発事故と同じく人災ではないかと思えてきました。

この国、本当に大丈夫でしょうか？！

お役所的対応？/ That’s the way of local government!

That’s the way of local government!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

When I visited at my favorite spot which has been opened since this week,
I noticed that there are big changes this year.

They are about changes of the fee.
And there are two major change:

1. Prices of All one day tickets were went up to 150%.
2. Free admission for senior citizens will revised to 100JPY.

I feel no problem about 2 (it is unbelievable for me about free of charge till last year). But I did felt strange about 1, with watching current condition/photo* of the facility.

(The photo was taken about 15:00 on Thursday July 4.  Situation was almost same on Friday too.)

I strongly felt that there are something has to be done before raising price of the fee. Without considering that, this discussion will fall into negative spiral of “Raising Price” and “Reducing Users”.

This situation is quite similar of the decision of our central government “We have to raise the consumption tax, we need money for social security. I really worry about this local government has same train of thought, with calling upon SDGs. Oh, this will widen the gap between Fukuoka city and Kitakyushu city very much. At the beginning of new era “Raiwa”, I realized that the decline of my hometown was man‐made disaster.

お役所的対応？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今週からオープンしている、お気に入りのスポット。

なんと今年は驚くべき変化がありました。

料金に関する変更です。そのポイントには大きく二点あり、、、

１．すべての当日利用料金が1.5倍に値上げされた。
２．市内６５歳以上の利用料金が「タダ」から100円に改定された。

２については、（今回はじめて知った）そもそもこれまでタダだったということに強い違和感を感じるので正しい選択で、問題はまったく感じませんが、、、

１については、施設の現状（画像*）を見るにつけ、素朴に「疑問」を感じます。

* 画像は7月4日 木曜日の午後３時の施設の状況です（ちなみに「営業中」のひとコマです（笑）。金曜も同様でした！）。

値段を上げる前になにかやることがあるのでは、と こみ上げる行き場の無い訴えに悶々とします。このままでは「値段を上げる」→「利用者が減る」を繰り返す負のスパイラルに陥ってしまいます。

社会保障にお金が必要だから、まずは消費税を上げよう、みたいな役所的対応がまかりとおっていることを危惧します。こんな状況でSDGsを叫んでいる姿に失笑してしまいます。嗚呼、、、これではまた同県内の県庁所在地との格差は拡がるばかり、ふるさとの衰退は人災だったのかもしれないと真剣に感じた令和元年です。
