This should not be happened! We think, as one member who is working for tourism/hospitality in the area.

“Tourists are wondering after Hokkaido earthquake in front of closed tourist information” (NHK Sep.6)

What is “i (Tourist Information)” for?
Information in need is Information indeed, isn’t it?

Attracting but no care in emergency. It must be the bad host’s habit. This is out of discussion about hospitality. This is troubled quality as a host.

Tourism Promotion Department of each local government should decide how “Tourist Information” of each area will work in emergency in advance. It must be the forefront window for the tourist from foreign countries. Specially “i” in local area should work more than that in big cities. Because there is less people who can communicate with using foreign languages.

観光・おもてなし業界にいるものとして、これはやってはいけないことだと思う。

なんのための「ｉ: Tourist Information」なのでしょう？
非常時にこそ機能すべき施設ではないでしょうか？

「誘致」しておいて、非常時に切り捨てるのは、おもてなし以前にホストとしての「品格」が疑われます。

各自治体の「観光振興部署」はその最前線の窓口である「ｉ」の非常時の運用を事前に決めておくべきです。そしてそれは首都圏・大都市ではない、地方こそしっかり対応すべきです。外国語での対応ができない住民比率が高いのだから、、、

Let’s work smart, Kitakyushu!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As I mentioned about airport in the last article, I pick up another topic about airport.

Now, our town, Kitakyushu in renovating airport terminal building.
The most interesting part for me is its “Lounge”.

From the lounge heavy users point of view, current lounge of Kitakyushu airport sucks. Because it doesn’t work as a tool to show hospitality of Kitakyushu. So I am expecting very much how they improve their lounge in new layout.
*Now, our guests who use international flight cannot use the lounge in Kitakyushu airport. It is very disappointing as both domestic and international locates in one same terminal building.

A few days ago, I used a new lounge of neighbor airport. I now report how convenient it was. We have guests who used this airport increasing lately.

The biggest and best difference from that of Kitakyushu is that their lounge is locating before security checkpoint.
(So both domestic and international passenger can use the same lounge. Plus both departure and arrival passenger can use it too.)
This can be implemented more by “idea”, “mind” and “sense”, than the budget.

I believe that most important thing is “the mind of OMOTENASHI = Hospitality” for both guesthouse and airport.

がんばろう北九州！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

空港の話題が出たついでに、気になっていることをひとつ。

現在、我が街北九州では空港ターミナルビルを改修中です。
改修内容の中で自分が注目しているのは「ラウンジ」の位置付けです。

「ラウンジ」ヘビーユーザーの自分自身にとっては、これまでの北九州空港のラウンジが海外からのゲストにとっておもてなしのツールとして機能していなかったので、改修後の「ラウンジ」にとても期待をしています。
※ちなみに現在、北九州空港では国際線の利用者はラウンジの使用ができません。国内線・国際線どちらもおなじターミナルビルにあるのにとても残念です。

先日利用したお隣の空港でもラウンジが改修され、より使いやすくなっていたので、参考までにその使い勝手の良さをご紹介します。最近こちらの空港を利用して当宿にいらっしゃるゲストさんも増えてきました。

北九州空港との違いのうち、最大・最良のポイントはラウンジが保安検査場前に設置されていることです。（これで国内線・国際線とも利用者が活用することが可能です。さらに出発・到着の両方で利用することも可能です。）これって予算というよりは「アイデア」・「気持ち」・「センス」の問題でしょう。

ゲストハウスも空港も、大切なのはやっぱり「お・も・て・な・し」の心でしょうね。

Hard to make them understood?

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It is extremely cold this winter.

Thermometer record -1 degree C at mid day 2pm yesterday.

I’ve never seen an icicle here since my childhood.

Majority of our guests came from much colder north countries but they are living in houses with strong central heating system there. Compare with that, we Japanese are living in cold houses without heater at corridor, stairway and restroom. So our guest may feel cold in Japanese house.

It is hard for them understand by explaining this is normal life style in Japan.

All we can do is welcome them further warm hospitality OMOTENASHI.

Thank you and you have a nice heart warm day even though your house or stock account are freezing in recent circumstances.

わかってほしいけど、無理かなぁ？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

全くもってこの冬は、、、凍えます。

関門、小森江エリア、昨日午後2時の気温は、、、

なんと氷点下１℃でした。

この地元でつららを見たのなんて、ガキの頃以来です。

ゲストはもっと寒い北の国からいらっしゃるのですが、強力なセントラルヒーティングを備えたお宅にお住まいです。それに比べて、日本（九州）の一般家屋は廊下・階段・トイレ等に暖房がないので、とっても寒いと感じられるようです。

そういう文化だから、といっても分かってもらえないでしょうね。

さらなるあたたかい「まごころ」で「おもてなし」するしかない今日このごろです。

それでは、たとえ家の中や株式資産が凍えても、心だけはあたたかく素敵な一日を！
