Noticing the season

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

t’s been quite some time since Japan began attracting large numbers of tourists from abroad, but…

The greatest charm of this country, Nippon, is undoubtedly its changing seasons.

As a result, many visitors naturally become repeat tourists, wanting to come back in a different season.

We Japanese people know about these seasonal changes in various ways.

Things like the melting snow, the temperature of the water coming out of the tap, the colors of the plants and trees, the greetings of TV announcers, and so on…

At this guesthouse, you can experience the changing seasons in our own unique way.

For example, nowadays, sunset is one such example.

After the spring equinox, the sunset, which has shifted northward from behind the apartment building, suddenly becomes visible.

Unlike the afternoon sun in autumn, the setting sun in spring brings a gentle warmth into our rooms.

季節を知る

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

日本に外国から大勢の観光客が押し寄せるようになって久しいですが、、、

この国、にっぽんの魅力は、なんといっても四季の移り変わりでしょう。

そのため、今度は違う季節に来てみようとリピーターも自然と多くなるようです。

そうした季節の移り変わりを、私たち日本人はいろいろな方法で知ります。

雪解けや、蛇口から出る水の温度、草木の色や、テレビアナウンサーの挨拶などなど、、、

当宿でも独自の方法で季節の移り変わりを感じることができます。

例えば今では、日の入りがそれです。

お彼岸を過ぎると、アパートの陰から北にシフトしてきた日の入りが急に見えるようになるんです。

春の西陽は、秋のそれとは違って、優しい暖かさを室内に届けてくれます。

Ideal weekend – Pollen on the shore

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In Japan, we are now in spring, the peak season for cedar pollen dispersion.

Greetings to all pollen allergy sufferers in Japan!

Now, here is the Kanmon Strait area, where the amount of pollen released is surprisingly low due to geographical and meteorological factors.

It will be sunny for a while, but it looks like the north or northwest winds will continue, so those with severe pollen allergy will be relieved.

Although the pollen forecast for this weekend was “extremely high,” the actual amount of pollen in the air was not that high.

In such Kanmon area, the host runs out to do some groceries while our guests are out, and here’s what he sees on his way there and back!

Relaxed fishing on a pier with the sea breeze blowing! 

This is the perfect weekend for those with pollen allergy.

If you’re lucky, you’ll also be able to get some fish protein and DHA that night, which are lacking in many Japanese people these days…

理想の週末 〜 海辺のカフン

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

今日本では、杉花粉の飛散最盛期の春を迎えています。

日本の花粉症のみなさま、ごきげんよう！

さて、こちらは地理的・気象的要因から意外や花粉飛散量の少ない関門海峡エリアです。

これからしばらく晴れですが、北風ないしは北西風が続くようなので、花粉症のひどい宿主はほっとしているところです。

この週末も花粉予報は「極めて多い」とされながらも、実際の飛散量はそうでもありませんでした。

そんな関門エリアにあって、ゲストの外出中に買い出しに走る宿主ですが、その行き帰りに見かける光景がこちら！

海風が吹く岸壁でのんびりフィッシング！

これこそ花粉症の方にとって最高の週末でしょう。

「運が良ければ」その夜には最近の日本人に不足している魚のタンパク質やDHAも摂取できるし、、、

そんな素敵な週末を、ここ関門で過ごしてみませんか？

To those who are having a hard time right now…

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

There’s something I really feel when this season comes around.

To anyone who’s feeling down right now,

I would encourage you 

to try this strait life!

What am I talking about?

I’m talking about pollen allergy, of course.

I’ve been back here a while now and it’s a lot easier than it was in Tokyo. 

I wouldn’t say it’s perfect condition, but it’s a lot more comfortable.

There’s a good reason for this.

The reason lies in the view from the guest rooms.

It’s not a ship passing through the strait.

It’s smoke coming from stacks in an industrial area.

You can see that the smoke is blowing quite strongly towards us. 

From winter to spring, there are many days with this wind in this direction. 

It’s blowing towards us…in other words, a northwesterly wind.

Looking from here, what’s there in the direction the wind is blowing? All you can see is Hikoshima Island on the other side, and beyond that…

the Sea of Hibiki-nada and the Sea of Japan are the only things. This means there are absolutely no cedar or cypress trees upwind.

With the north to northeast winds that usually blow at this time of year, I can physically feel that there is less pollen in this town.

I think it’s worth trying for people who are really suffering or thinking about moving…

今がつらい人に、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

この季節になると、つくづく感じることがあります。

今、つらいと感じている人に、

是非とも試してもらいたいっ、

この海峡生活を！

なんのことを話しているか、って？

もちろん花粉症のことです。

こっちに戻ってきてずいぶんになりますが、東京にいた頃よりもずっと楽なんです。

全然大丈夫とは言いませんが、ずいぶん快適です。

これにはちゃんと理由もあるんです。

その訳は客室から見える景色の中にあります。

海峡を通過する船ではありません。

工業地帯の煙突から出る煙です。

煙がこっちに向いて結構強く吹いているのがわかると思います。

冬から春にかけてはこの風・この風向きの日が多いんです。

こっちに向かって吹いている、、、つまり北西の風です。

ここから見て、その風が吹いてくる方向に何があるかというと、あるのは対岸の彦島ぐらいで、その向こうには、、、

響灘、日本海しかありません。つまり風上にはスギやヒノキが全くないってことです。

この時期にいつも吹いている北から北東の風であれば、この町に花粉が少ないということは体でもって実感しています。

本当につらい人・移住を考えている人なら、一度試す価値はあると思うのですが、、、
