A little summer resort

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We mentioned about more than 1,000m vertical evacuation from the heat.

The area around this guesthouse seems to be 2 – 3 degrees cooler than other area, specially inland and urban areas.

It may be because here is on the slope land where sea wind is always blowing and close to the strait with strong current which replace the water and keep the water temperature a little cooler.

Furthermore, fewer exhaust from cars and outdoor units of air-conditioners due to the small number of residents and the environment with more greens may prevent from temperature rising.

かすかな避暑

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

先の記事で1,000mクラスの垂直避暑を話題にしましたが、、、

この宿の周辺エリアでも、特に内陸や市街地に比べると気温は2,3度低いことが多いようです。

それはこの地が海風を受ける斜面であることと、潮の干満で潮の流れが早く海峡の水が入れ替わることで水温が比較的低いこと、そんな海辺の町だからかもしれません。

さらに住む人の数が少ないことからの室外機の影響が少ないこと、緑の多い環境もまた気温の上昇を抑えているように思います。

そんな高台の宿で海峡を行き来する船でも眺めながらのんびり過ごしてみませんか？

雨降って、、、/ After the rain

After the rain

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Strong cold front ran through the islands of Japan.

It seems to bring TSUYU (rainy season) to Tokyo and other Kanto area.

But it brought wonderful things to hear Kitakyushu.

At first, we are enjoying blue sky, and comfortable dry north wind which is 22 – 23 degree C.

And good waves.

After the rain, waves have increased their size!

Normally this area is winter surf spot, so we are having good waves after a long time.

As waves break off the coast, I do feel a sense of unity with nature, when I be alone surrounded by swells on the ocean.

雨降って、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

週末から日本列島を駆け抜けた低気圧。

関東には梅雨を運んできたようですが、

ここ北九州には良いことばかりをもたらしています。

まずは青空、心地よい22〜23℃ぐらいの乾いた北風に、

そして、、、波。

雨降って、波上がる！

基本この辺りは冬のスポットのため、夏はイマイチですが、久しぶりに週明けからいい感じです。

いい波はかなり沖目で立つので、大海原のうねりの中、一人でいる感覚が自然との一体感を醸し出します。

風の道 / Path of the wind

Path of the wind

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It is very hot all over Japan this week. This Kanmon area is not the exception.

Our hydrangeas are worked out by the heat. It is so hot in these days.

This time of a year, we try to make a path of the wind through this guesthouse like the traditional townhouse in Kyoto.

It is lucky that we have cool sea breeze geographically. So we open all winds on our seaside. We also open the entrance door and the wind goes through this house.

Moving NOREN, entrance curtain, make us feel cool.

Once extremely hot heat will come and we can do nothing without air-conditioning. But we make effort to cool this house naturally.
(Of course, we let our guests to use air-condition for their comfortable stay.)

風の道

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今週は日本中が暑いようですが、ここ関門園エリアも例外ではありません。

せっかく咲いた紫陽花たちも熱にやられてしまって元気がありません。

この時期、暑さ対策として、当宿では京都の町家のように風を通すように努めています。

さいわい比較的涼しい海風が吹く地形なので、海側の窓を全開放して、玄関のドアを開けると建物中を海風が抜けていきます。

風に揺れるのれんを見るだけで涼やかな気分になります。

本格的な酷暑になってしまうとどうしようもありませんが、できるだけエコに夏を過ごしたいですね。
（もちろんゲストさんには、必要に応じてエアコン使っていただきますよ。）
